Race reports: 1
Josh SpectorFinish time 5:01:42
“Another important thing about this race was that I had fun.”

Josh Spector struggled with more climbing than expected and late calf cramps at the Bandit Ultra Trail 50km, but enjoyed exploring new trails with friends. They held on through the final descent to finish in 5 hours, 1 minute, 42 seconds, placing 11th overall and second in their age group.

We translated a short line from each public race report and summarized the experience. Finish times are as stated by the author, and past editions may differ from this year's weather and operations.

More details

Getting to the start

Nearest station is Simi Valley Metrolink/Amtrak (5050 Los Angeles Ave), roughly 3-4 miles from Corriganville Park (7001 Smith Rd) — not walking distance. Simi Valley Transit local bus routes 10/20/30 serve the city, but no confirmed direct stop at the park.

Start/finish is at Corriganville Park, a former movie ranch in Simi Valley. Suburban LA-area park reachable by car; nearest rail/bus hub (Simi Valley Metrolink station) is a few miles away with no confirmed direct transit link to the trailhead.

Getting to the finish

Same as start — course loops from Corriganville Park through Rocky Peak, Las Llajas, and Tapo Canyon back to the park.

Finish is at Corriganville Park.

Transit card

Metro Rail serves the LA area with a TAP card, and Metrolink commuter rail has a station in Simi Valley (one-way fares roughly $5-$20 depending on distance); Metrolink doesn't accept TAP for payment itself, but tickets to LA County destinations carry a TAP-enabled QR code for onward Metro Rail transfers. The Santa Susana/Rocky Peak trailhead used for this race is still a car or rideshare trip from the station, since no transit line reaches the venue directly.

READY TO RUN

From race morning to after the finish.

Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.

The start is at Corriganville Park (7001 Smith Road, Simi Valley), a filming location used for movies including Star Trek and The Lone Ranger.

Bib pickup for the 50K opens at 6:00 a.m. ahead of the 7:00 a.m. start, and the 30K and 15K each start 30 minutes apart.

Along the 50K course, cut-off point are located at mile 14.3 (11:30 a.m. Time limit), mile 19.5 (1:00 p.m.), and mile 25.5 (2:30 p.m.),

with an overall finish time limit of 4:00 p.m. As a course climbing up and down the mountain trails of Rocky Peak,

Las Llajas, and Tapo Canyon, pacing your pace section by section is essential.

Times are local to Los Angeles (Simi Valley). Check the latest official information before the race.
