You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“Here's my experience preparing for and racing the half marathon in Barcelona last weekend.”
After taking part in the 2018 Barcelona Half Marathon, Leticia Acereda recorded her preparation and how the race actually felt, in the first person.

Finish · Google MapsThe race takes place on 14 February 2027, starting at Passeig Picasso.
The distance is 21.097 km, and the entire course is an urban course certified by the Catalan Athletics Federation (FCA),
the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA) and World Athletics.
The start is at 08:30, the race finishes at approximately 13:15, and the official time limit is 2 hours 45 minutes from the time the final participant passes start line.
Participants who exceed this time will not receive an official result.
Wheelchair athletes start first at 08:25.
To reduce congestion and keep runners moving smoothly, starts are staggered according to the estimated pace submitted at registration.
The start corrals (calaixos) are colour-coded, and only participants with the matching-colour bib may enter.
The sub-elite corral is assigned to participants who provide proof of a recent time under 30 minutes for the men's 10K,
under half marathon 1 hour 5 minutes and under 2 hours 15 minutes for the marathon;
the women's standards are 35 minutes, 1 hour 15 minutes and 2 hours 35 minutes.
Course has kilometre markers throughout the course in accordance with World Athletics regulations.
Pacer has 30 runners assigned across 10 target pace from 1 hour 20 minutes to 2 hours 5 minutes.
The organisers describe the course as a fully urban circuit through the Mediterranean city's centre and along the coast.
There are timing checkpoints at several points along course.
You will be disqualified if you miss one or are overtaken by the sweep vehicle.
Wheelchair athletes must report to start line by 15 minutes before the start.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
At pickup, you need an ID (DNI/passport) and the confirmation email showing your bib number.
There is no distribution after the Saturday 20:00 deadline, and race-day pickup is not available.

Start at Passeig de Picasso, next to Parc de la Ciutadella.
Arc de Triomf (Metro L1) or Ciutadella-Vila Olímpica (Metro L4)
Finish at Passeig Pujades (between Carrer de Nàpols and Carrer de Wellington), short walk from the start/both metro stations. Road closures ~08:00-13:00 — metro recommended over driving.
No dedicated shuttle bus, but TMB (Barcelona transit operator) has distributed free single-journey metro tickets (~36,000) at bib/kit pickup in past editions — per prior (2026) edition, not yet confirmed for 2027.
T-Casual (loaded onto a T-mobilitat card)
TMB metro station vending machines, the T-mobilitat mobile app, tobacconist shops (estancos), and TMB customer service offices — you first get a €1 cardboard T-mobilitat card, then load the T-Casual (10-ride) fare onto it. Works directly at the gates
Alternative: Hola BCN Travel Card from about €16.62 for 2 days (48h), scaling up to 5-day (120h) versions — Worth it if you're riding often across several days and want the airport metro transfer bundled in, since a couple of guides note the L9 Sud airport surcharge isn't reliably covered by a plain contactless tap. TMB rolled out open-loop contactless payment (bank card, phone, watch) across the whole metro, bus and tram network by 2026 — each tap buys one single ticket at the standard fare, with no discount for volume.
The traditional T-Casual (formerly T-10) now has to be loaded onto a separate physical T-mobilitat card rather than being a standalone paper ticket, which adds a step for tourists. One third-party guide states the L9 Sud airport line runs a separate, higher fare zone not covered by contactless tap-in — this specific restriction was not confirmed on TMB's own page, so treat it as unverified.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
Bib pickup is only at the pre-race expo; on race day, head to the gear check and start corral that match your bib color.
Your bib, chip, runner bag, and commemorative T-shirt are handed out only at Expo Sports before the race—not on race day.
Gear check is split among three sites by bib color, so change first, pin on your bib, and arrive early.

There are drink stations at about the 5, 10, 15, and 17.5 km mark, and the finish has both drinks and food.
Headphones aren't banned for general runners, but organizers strongly advise against them.
Medical staff are posted along the entire course and in the start and finish areas, and they can pull runners from the race if necessary.
Once you cross the finish, you'll pass the aid station and get your finisher medal.
Times are local to Barcelona. Check the latest official information before the race.
