The Boka Marathon is an AIMS-certified 42.195 km road race that starts in Pine, Tivat, and finishes in Kotor Old Town.

The start is scheduled for 9:00 am on 13 December 2026.

The course follows the Bay of Kotor coast, running out and back along the coastal road through the villages of Verige, Stoliv, Prčanj and Muo.

The 2025 full marathon participant wrote about encountering faster runners on the out-and-back section, support along the route, Packet Pickup in Tivat, and a meal in Kotor. They mentioned that the weather was cold and wet at the time; this does not establish what the weather or race operations will be like in 2026.

The 6th edition takes place from 11 to 13 December 2026.

Full marathon Registration opened on 15 December 2025 and, according to the official page,

closes at 11:59 pm on 15 November 2026 or earlier if capacity is reached.

Participants are assigned to waves based on their expected finish time, and the start gates are open from 8:00 to 8:45 am.

You must collect bib in person during the designated hours on 11–12 December or on race morning, but the venue has not yet been announced.

Course starts on the coast at Pine Square, passes through central Tivat and Porto Montenegro, then follows the eastern shore of the Bay of Kotor.

The distance is completed using turnarounds at intersections and out-and-back sections before the course enters the Old Town for the finish.

The organizer lists 86 m of elevation gain,

but time limit is not stated as confirmed because official materials give conflicting cut-offs of 6 hours and 6 hours 30 minutes.

The Entry fee page also lists different prices for later entry tiers than the organizer's registration system, so the current fee table is being withheld.

Check registration and prices

  • The official full marathon page lists the registration deadline as 11:59 pm on 15 November 2026, or earlier if capacity is reached.
  • The official marathon page lists 4 price tiers: €50/60/80/95, while the organizer’s registration system shows €50/60/75/90. The two official pages differ, so the fee has not been confirmed.
  • The official announcement lists capacity for full marathon as 500, while the website lists 700, so the capacity has not been confirmed. You must be at least 18 in the year of the race.

Bib and the start area

  • Marathon Packet Pickup pickup is scheduled for 11 December, 16:00–20:00, and 12 December, 10:00–20:00. It ends at 07:00 on race day, but the scheduled start is listed as both 05:30 in the announcement and 06:00 in separate regulations, so this needs to be confirmed. The location is TBA, so check for updated information before race day.
  • Your start corral is assigned based on your predicted finish time during registration. The start gates open at 08:00 and close at 08:45; starting from a different corral may result in disqualification.
  • You must collect your bib in person and bring valid ID. You can apply to transfer it to another runner by 1 December for €10; the fee is non-refundable.

Course and time limits

  • The course starts in Pine and passes Porto Montenegro, Seljanovo, Verige, Stoliv, Prčanj, and Muo before finishing in Kotor’s Old Town. The route repeats an out-and-back section along the bay.
  • The organizer’s page and official announcement list a six-hour limit, while the course rules allow six hours and 30 minutes, so the time limit is inconsistent. Check the latest Runner Info for confirmation.
  • The 2026 announcement lists course controls, course staff and police, water, sports drink and fruit at aid stations, and medical support points.

Travel between Tivat and Kotor

  • The 2026 participant guide asks you to choose your transport when you register. The pre-race bus from Kotor to Tivat costs €3 and runs from 06:00 to 07:30; the post-race bus costs €3 and runs from 16:00 to 17:30.
  • The post-race boat from Kotor to Tivat costs €5 and departs at 16:30, with 300 seats available for participants. A separate advance boat service for spectators is listed with its own schedule and capacity.
  • Marathon bag storage is at the gymnasium of Njegoš Elementary School in Kotor. Personal bags can be transported from Tivat to Kotor on Saturday from 16:30 to 19:00 at Pine Pier. The organizers advise you not to leave valuables in your bag.

Previous participants’ weather experiences

  • One runner who took part in 2025 said they encountered faster runners twice on the out-and-back section and listed the cheering around course and the meal in Kotor as memorable highlights.
  • I found the weather on my 2025 race day cold and damp. That was one person’s experience in one year, so don’t treat it as a forecast for 2026; prepare according to the local forecast.
