No public transit. Point-to-point race: start at Sturgeon Lake, MN 55783 (Sturgeon Lake trailhead on the Willard Munger Trail).
Official/organizer-linked sources (Run Minnesota event listing and WDIO local news coverage, not the ultrasignup registration page itself) confirm the race starts at Sturgeon Lake, MN and runs the paved Willard Munger Trail roughly 43+ miles to Duluth. This is only the second running of this race (inaugural edition was October 2025); the course follows the Willard Munger Trail point-to-point, nearly flat for 40 miles then a ~500 ft downhill drop over the final 10 miles into Duluth.
No public transit serves the rural Sturgeon Lake start. The bus from the finish line to the starting point leaves at 6:20 (6:00 boarding).
1106 88th Ave W, Duluth, MN 55808 — a former 1918 bank building in the Morgan Park neighborhood, serving as race HQ and finish line.
Per WDIO local news coverage of the inaugural 2025 race and Run Minnesota listing (secondary sources, not the ultrasignup page): finish is at the historic Morgan Park bank building at 1106 88th Ave W, Duluth — the race's namesake landmark.
Yes, per organizer/Run Minnesota listing (secondary source): 'Transportation will be provided for all participants from the finish line to the start line' (pre-race shuttle so runners can leave cars at the point-to-point finish in Duluth and be bused to the Sturgeon Lake start). Relay teams must arrange their own transport to intermediate exchange points at Sturgeon Lake trailhead, Moose Lake, Mahtowa trailhead, and Carlton trailhead.
Break the Bank is a point-to-point ultra starting near Sturgeon Lake, MN and finishing in Duluth, MN. Duluth is served by the Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) with cash or reloadable GoCard fares in the city, but the race start and most of the paved Willard Munger Trail course are well outside any transit network, so a car is needed for the point-to-point logistics.
