The road to your own record
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.

The city you want to run becomes your next trip.

THE DREAM
The sea is beside you from start to finish. That's why Xiamen earned its name.
The race began in 2003, and 73,896 people entered in 2013.
It is a World Athletics Platinum Label race.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“When I truly crossed the finish line and saw the number “2:59:45” on the arch timer, my heart was exceptionally calm.”A participant in the 2026 Xiamen Marathon full course recorded 4 hours 39 minutes 59 seconds in their first full marathon in 2020, then spent several years training and competing. The participant achieved a sub-3-hour finish in Xiamen with a time of 2 hours 59 minutes 45 seconds.
“At around 38km, I walked after getting a cramp in my left hamstring in a headwind and on a slight uphill.”
The 2026 participant enjoyed the coastal scenery without checking their watch in the early going. After 30K, the left hamstring tightened up from the climbs and headwinds, forcing some walking, but they found a second wind and picked up the pace again before the final 500 meters.

Read the original on 深セン猛走会 ランニングブログ“My favorite section of the Xiamen Marathon was the hill before reaching Yanwu Bridge and the 3 km-long bridge that seemed to float above the sea.”
Chia-Ling Cheng described in detail the size of the expo, the route to bib pickup, and how the 12 starting corrals were run. The course along the coastline and out and back across Yanwu Bridge was memorable, but the sun, the climbs, and the lack of aid stations on the bridge section made it tough.

我最喜歡廈門馬的路段就是在要跑上演武大橋前的那段爬坡和跑在幾乎是懸空在海面上長達三公里的演武大橋。
Read the original on 運動筆記“The Xiamen full marathon was really difficult to run because both the weather and the course were challenging.”
The runner finished the 2024 Xiamen Marathon in 3 hours 39 minutes. The runner ran the first half steadily with a target of 3 hours 30 minutes, but after crossing the bridge following the turnaround point, energy declined and the rising temperature slowed the pace. The runner was also unable to eat an energy gel, and reflected on the importance of long-distance training and heat acclimatization based on the experience.

厦门全马让我尝到了苦头,无论是这天气还是赛道,完全跑不动。
Read the original on 寒峰路“I finished in 3 hours 39 minutes, 10 minutes slower than my target.”
The runner got in through the waitlist lottery and held back early, but slowed after the turnaround because of the heat and tired legs. Aid stations were well stocked, and they kept moving without stopping, finishing in 3:39. They concluded that they need more long-distance conditioning and better preparation for heat and humidity.

Read the original on 少数派“Marathons in Taiwan could learn from this, too, but there needs to be a sufficiently spacious venue.”
The runner started from Zone J at the 2020 Xiamen Marathon and experienced congestion during the first 5 km. The runner rated the spacious race-expo area and the clear hydration-station information highly, and was particularly impressed by the coastal scenery and the ice-water foot bath service after finishing.

這點台灣的馬拉松可以學習一下,不過前提是要有足夠大的場地才可以。
Read the original on 運動筆記“The moment I crossed the line, it was fixed at 340, with a net score of 339.”The writer took part in the 2018 Xiamen Marathon full marathon in torrential rain. They recalled overcoming an early over pace and fatigue after 30 km, then finishing chip time in 3 hours 39 minutes, cutting around 20 minutes off their previous time.
“Therefore, maintaining an even pace is key, and you should never run too fast early on.”
The runner ran the 2016 Xiamen full marathon, experiencing congestion early on and hills in the latter stages. Due to insufficient fuelling and dizziness later in the race, the runner finished in the 3:09 range, slower than the goal, and reflected on the importance of maintaining an even pace.

Use the Alipay or WeChat 'Transport' QR ride code (select Xiamen, bind your foreign card/passport) — it's officially confirmed to cover Xiamen metro, BRT, buses, and ferries. A physical e-Tong Card (e通卡) is a solid backup if you'd rather not rely on your phone.

Start and finish are both at Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center.
No subway/BRT line reaches the venue directly.
Regular bus lines 19, 109, 641, 653, 751, 753, 949, B7, M7 stop right at the Exhibition Center bus terminal -- the most direct option.
Alternative: Metro Line 2 to Software Park Phase II Station (软件园二期站), then ~1.4km on foot/taxi;
or BRT K3/K5/K6/K9 to Qianpu Hub Station (前埔枢纽站, BRT), then ~1.2km on foot.
Same location as start - Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center; the course is an out-and-back loop that finishes where it starts
Finish line is at the same Exhibition Center complex.
Same transit options as the start apply: direct bus to the Exhibition Center bus terminal,
Metro Line 2 to Software Park Phase II Station (~1.4km), or BRT to Qianpu Hub Station (~1.2km).
The course is a loop starting and finishing at Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center;
no metro or BRT line runs directly to the venue.
Historically,
Xiamen traffic police and the organizing committee publish a detailed road-closure/traffic-control notice roughly 2-3 weeks before race day -- no such notice for the 2027-01-10 edition was found yet.
Could not reach the official site xmim.org directly (DNS/connection timeout);
the facts above are corroborated across three independent secondary sources reporting on the 2024/2025/2026 editions of this same race,
one of which (qq.com) explicitly attributes the transit details to the Xiamen Marathon organizing committee's own announcement.
In recent editions (e.g. Jan 2026),
the organizer ran a free sponsor-provided shuttle for bib/packet pickup from Xiamen North Railway Station (厦门北站) and Xiamen Gaoqi Airport Terminals T3/T4 to the Exhibition Center in the days before the race.
Exact schedule and sponsor are announced closer to each race date, so 2027-specific details are not yet published.

Xiamen's Foreign Affairs Office confirmed in 2024 that the city's transport QR code was integrated into Alipay so foreign tourists can generate a valid ride code for metro/BRT/bus/ferry.
Foreign contactless bank-card tap-at-gate (the Beijing/Guangzhou/Chengdu-style system) is not documented for Xiamen as of this research — treat as unavailable.
BRT stations also have coin-operated kiosks with English interfaces as a cash fallback.

The race is held in early January each year.
Xiamen has a subtropical monsoon climate, and January is its coolest month.
Average January temperatures range from a high of 17.5°C to a low of 10.5°C—generally comfortable conditions for a marathon.
Average rainfall in January is 42mm, among the lowest of the year.
Frost is extremely rare in Xiamen, and winters are mild;
the city’s last recorded snowfall was in January 1893.
The area can be affected by typhoons in summer and early autumn, but January is well outside that season.
Since course follows the coast throughout, however, runners should bring an extra layer for the wait before the start and prepare for sea breezes.
Xiamen is also regarded as one of the cities in China with relatively good air quality.
Times are local to Xiamen. Check the latest official information before the race.
