THE DREAM
This half marathon has been held annually in The Hague in mid-March since 1975.
It is known for its flat, fast 21.1 km course.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“Last weekend was race weekend for the NN CPC Loop The Hague, where our crew ran the half marathon.”
David Stegenga traveled to The Hague with his crew to run the CPC Half Marathon, enjoying the atmosphere created by international running crews and the cheer zones.

After cold winds and a congested start, the runner ran the climb at Scheveningen. With support from friends, the runner set a personal best at the runner's second half marathon.

RACE WEEK
Know the course and time limit, and race day comes into focus.
From the 2026 editionThe NN CPC Loop Den Haag is The Hague's spring half marathon, first held in 1975.
CPC stands for City-Pier-City: from the city out to the seaside pier and back.
The March 15, 2026 race was the 50th edition, and with 54,700 entries across all races, including 24,920 for the half marathon, every race sold out.
The 51st edition in 2027 is on Sunday, March 14.
The start line for all races is on the Koningskade, and the finish is right next to it on the Malieveld.
The half marathon leaves the Malieveld, passes through several neighborhoods of The Hague out to the Scheveningen beach promenade, and returns to the Malieveld.
It's flat and considered one of the fastest half marathon courses in the world, and the Dutch half marathon record was set on this course.
The course records are 58:33 for men, set by Samuel Wanjiru in 2007 as a world record at the time, and 1:06:56 for women, by Lorna Kiplagat in 2000.
Races are the half marathon, 10K, 5K, youth 2.5K and 1K, and a 1K for participants with disabilities.
In 2026 the half marathon started in six waves 15 minutes apart from 11:30 a.m.,
the 5K at 10:40, and the 10K in four waves from 3:10 p.m. The time limit is 2 hours 30 minutes for the half marathon, 1 hour 20 minutes for the 10K and 45 minutes for the 5K.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
Just tap your contactless bank card or phone on the OVpay reader when you board and again when you get off HTM trams/buses — it charges the exact same fare as the OV-chipkaart, no separate card needed.
Den Haag Centraal (NS train/tram/metro), a few minutes' walk to Malieveld
Start and finish both at Malieveld, The Hague.
Same as start, Malieveld, walkable from Den Haag Centraal.
PER PRIOR EDITION: HTM trams and buses run to Malieveld on adjusted timetables;
RET Line E also serves Den Haag Centraal.
Bike parking along Koekamplaan.
No dedicated runner shuttle -- regular HTM tram/bus network (adjusted schedules) plus walk-in from Den Haag Centraal.
Venue is fixed year to year, likely to carry over to 2027, but detailed 2027 travel-info page not yet published.
OV-chipkaart
Train station ticket machines, some supermarkets/kiosks (e.g. AH to Go), or HTM shops
Works directly at the gates
Alternative: HTM Day Ticket (Dagkaart) €8.60 (1-day) / €18 (3-day) —
Worth it if making many short trips in one day, since OVpay/OV-chipkaart charges per trip (a base fare plus a per-km rate) which can add up quickly.
You must tap in AND tap out with the same card every single time on bus, tram, and RandstadRail metro, or you'll be charged a penalty maximum fare.
The Dagkaart is unlimited travel on HTM buses/trams only — it does not cover regional buses or trains.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
Bibs aren't mailed; you pick yours up in person at the Malieveld.
In 2026, pickup ran from noon to 7 p.m. on Friday, noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on race day.
Enter the Malieveld from the Koekamplaan side.
Register by early February and your name is printed on your bib.
Bags go in lockers booked in advance.
In 2026 you could reserve one for €6.50 on your participant page until February 16, and few were left on the day.
Lockers must be emptied before 7 p.m. Half marathon waves are assigned by projected time,
and you need to be in your start corral 15–30 minutes before your start.
Pace groups run too.
There are aid stations along the course and at the finish, and restrooms at the start/finish and midway along the course.
The start and finish are a 5-minute walk from Den Haag Centraal station,
which is also served by RET metro line E. Road closures are extensive on race day, so the organizers recommend train, tram or bike.
Direct trains run every 10 minutes from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to Den Haag Centraal, taking 27–48 minutes.
The Hague in March averages a high of 9.8°C and a low of 2.7°C, with about 11 wet days in the month.
The coastal stretch is exposed to North Sea winds, so it feels colder than the numbers suggest.
Times are local to The Hague. Check the latest official information before the race.
