“I crossed the finish without tripping over the timing equipment, then sat straight down.”

At the Drammen half marathon, a fast early pace, heat, and insufficient water made the second half hard. After finishing in 1 hour 44 minutes 45 seconds, the runner sat down from dehydration and fatigue and recovered by drinking water.

Half marathon course consists of two laps of the same 10km loop as the Drammen 10K held in spring.

With just 22m of total elevation gain, it is considered a flat, fast course, ideal for chasing a strong time.

The start is at the corner of Drammenshallen, while the finish is set up on the track at Marienlyst Stadion.

On race day, the section between Marienlyst and Stormoen,

including Bjørnstjerne Bjørnsons gate and Nedre and Øvre Eiker vei, will be fully closed from 4:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Typical race-season temperature: around 11°C (51°F): Short sleeves or light long sleeves + arm warmers

Getting to the start

Drammen stasjon (Drammen train station) — official race info recommends taking the train; ~2 min walk from station to start/finish/bib pickup area

Start/finish area is at the corner of Drammenshallen, with the starting field along the hall, in the parking lot, and back toward Drammensbadet (per rundrm.no, official race site). Confirmed by Drammen kommune's official traffic notice: road closures 13:30-18:30 covering Nedre Eiker vei and Øvre Eiker vei between the Øvre Sund bru roundabout and Stormoen gårde, plus the area around Marienlyst and Drammenshallen.

Official site rundrm.no returned HTTP 403 on direct fetch, but content was recovered via web search result snippets (labeled as such). Road-closure and transit-reroute details are from the OFFICIAL Drammen kommune traffic notice (government source, high reliability) dated for the 5 Sept 2026 race.

Bane NOR runs replacement buses for the Asker–Kongsberg/Sande train line all race weekend, stopping at Strømsø torg (per race organizer info via search cache, not an independent transit-authority source). Bus line 52 (Øvre/Nedre Eiker vei) is suspended entirely during the race; buses to/from Konnerud/Gulskogen/Austad are rerouted via Nybyen; Line 3 (Fjell) altered via Knoffsgt/Bj Bj gt/Colletsgt.

Local buses in Drammen are run by Brakar, with tickets bought mainly through the Brakar or Ruter app rather than cash onboard; a reusable Reisekort travel card (50 NOK) is also available. Ruter and Brakar tickets are cross-valid on several shared lines around Drammen.
