The Grand Raid des Pyrénées is a mountain trail festival based in Vielle-Aure in France's Hautes-Pyrénées.
The 19th edition ran on August 19–23, 2026, and 2027 marks its 20th anniversary.
Races range from two course options in the 40km range to 50 and 60km,
the 80km Tour des Lacs and the 120km Tour des Cirques, and the flagship Ultra 160 has solo and 3-person relay categories.
The Ultra 160 actually measures 174.2km with 10,406m of elevation gain.
It starts at 5 a.m. on Friday in Vielle-Aure, goes over the Col du Portet,
through the Néouvielle massif and over the Col de Bastanet, and climbs the 2,877m Pic du Midi.
It then passes Hautacam, Pierrefitte, Lac d'Estaing, Cauterets, Luz-Saint-Sauveur,
Tournaboup and Hourquette Nère, crossing the Col du Portet again on the way back to Vielle-Aure.
The time limit is 50 hours for solo runners and 44 hours for relay teams.
The front runners finish inside 24 hours.
The Néouvielle section, the Col de Bastanet and the area around Hourquette Nère are rough terrain that's hard to run.
The 2026 solo field was about 1,000 runners.

Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
No rail station in Vielle-Aure/Saint-Lary-Soulan itself
Official site states access is via SNCF train to Tarbes or Toulouse-Matabiau, then onward to Lannemezan, with a correspondance by coach from the Lannemezan SNCF station to Saint-Lary Soulan village via LIO-Occitanie bus line 963. The event is a multi-day mountain trail festival (19-23 August 2026, this race on 21 Aug) based in Saint-Lary-Soulan/Vielle-Aure; the site also references a shuttle for runners' companions without further schedule detail. Rural Pyrenees mountain venue with limited public transit realistically available.
Same area as start (Vielle-Aure/Saint-Lary-Soulan)
Official site did not clearly state a separate finish location distinct from the Saint-Lary-Soulan/Vielle-Aure base. Note: Col de Portet road is closed daily 08:30-18:00 from 6 July-31 Aug 2026 for unrelated reasons, not a race-specific closure.
A companion/spectator shuttle service is referenced on the official site, plus the SNCF-bus connection described above; no detailed shuttle schedule was published.
Vielle-Aure is a remote Pyrenees mountain venue with no metro or city transit card system; car access is standard, and any local shuttles between start/finish points for the trail stages are organized directly by the race organizers.
