“I didn’t care about pace anymore, I just wanted to finish.”

Amelia Newton tackled her first half marathon at the 2025 Great Scottish Run, alternating walking and running to manage late cramps and fatigue. Louder cheers near finish lifted her spirits, and she finished in 3 hours, 1 second.

“Every race has its downsides, and for me there were a few small frustrations.”

A Glasgow half marathon participant praised the support and music, while noting congestion at the start and limited food choices at finish. This is a personal race report published on a running-gear brand's blog.

We translated a short line from each public race report and summarized the experience. Finish times are as stated by the author, and past editions may differ from this year's weather and operations.

The half marathon and 10K are held together.

The start line is on St Vincent Street, Glasgow (shared by the 10K and half marathon), the finish is at Glasgow Green, and the start time is 10 a.m. local time.

The finish is at Glasgow Green, Glasgow.

Half marathon runners start on St Vincent Street, head along Finnieston Street, cross the River Clyde, and follow the A814, West Street, Scotland Street,

and Paisley Road W. After passing Bellahouston and Pollok Country Park,

the route runs 3.5 miles inside Pollok Park before coming back out to Paisley Road W, recrossing the river, and passing mile 11;

it then follows the river through the McLennan Arch to the finish at Glasgow Green.

The first half is downtown;

the last 6 miles run through parks and along the river.

Miles 2 to 8 climb gradually, with the steepest stretch between miles 7 and 8, and after mile 8 it's almost all downhill to the finish.

The 10K uses the same start and finish but skips the park section,

following a downtown course over four bridges: it climbs slightly to 1 km, drops to 3 km, and is flat for the final 7 km.

The race page lists no separate time limit;

a sweeper vehicle follows at a 17-minute-mile pace, and if you fall behind it, you'll finish on the sidewalk.

The finish area stays open until everyone is in.
