The road to your own record
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.

The city you want to run becomes your next trip.

THE DREAM
Annual road race held in Florence, Italy.
The 21.097km half marathon passes through the old city and the Oltrarno district, with a non-competitive 10km also held.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“We collected the numbers from there the day before, when we were also given the goodie bag and t-shirt.”A Florence half marathon participant documented the registration paperwork and bib pickup, the atmosphere in Piazza Santa Croce, and the riverside start.
“The race takes place entirely in the city. Doubling back can feel repetitive, but 21km through town feels like a long way to run.”
At Florence half marathon Marathon, the runner experienced an urban course that doubled back and had uneven paving. The leading runner passing alongside at the 11km mark was a particularly memorable moment.

La gara si svolge tutta in città, a volte ripetitiva perchè si torna sui propri passi, ma 21Km in città son lunghi da fare.

The Florence half marathon Marathon is a road race linking the Arno riverside with the historic center of Florence, Italy.
UISP Firenze organizes it with local running clubs, and course has started on the riverside and finished in Piazza Santa Croce.
The published course passes Piazza della Signoria and the area around the Duomo and Baptistery before heading to Piazza della Repubblica.
Crossing the Ponte alla Carraia takes you into San Frediano and the Oltrarno.
After the Ponte Santa Trinita, the route follows the riverside back to the finish square.
Because bridges link the neighborhoods on both banks of the Arno, the direction you run and the cityscape around you keep changing.
The half marathon route was announced as two passes through the center that largely overlap.
On some stretches you return to squares and riverside you have already passed, reaching the same places at different points in the race.
Florence's landmarks are linked into a single running route rather than standing as separate sights.
The start is near Via delle Cascine on the Lungarno della Zecca, and the finish is in Piazza Santa Croce.
The run from start line on the riverside into a square in the historic center sums up the race.
A non-competitive run is also held, but its route is not the same as the half marathon.
The course above is the route from the officially announced edition;
any later changes follow the final course map.
This may change for the next edition.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.

No train/metro station serves the start directly. Start line at Lungarno della Zecca (Vecchia), at the height of Via delle Casine, central Florence -- a short walk from Piazza Santa Croce.
Official course sheet: 'DEPARTURE AT 9.00 LUNGARNO DELLA ZECCA (height of via delle Casine)'. The official How to get there page provides only an image-based walking map from Piazza Santa Croce -- no dedicated train/shuttle section exists.
Exact 2027 date is unconfirmed on the official site -- 2027-04-04 matches one third-party estimate (UISP Toscana; others cite 2027-04-11), most recently confirmed official edition was 2026-03-29. Venue (Lungarno della Zecca start, Piazza Santa Croce finish) is stable year to year. Official 'Circulation and Prohibitions' page shows no published traffic measures yet ('WAITING FOR COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE MUNICIPALITY OF FLORENCE').
Maximum time to complete the race is 3 hours -- after that the organization can no longer ensure full street closure. No official shuttle bus documented; only paid parking info (fipark.com) given for drivers.
Piazza Santa Croce, central Florence
Official course sheet: 'ARRIVAL SANTA CROCE SQUARE'. Medal distribution immediately after finish in Piazza Santa Croce.
Bib pickup also at Piazza Santa Croce (Sat 10:00-20:00, Sun 07:00-08:45 per most recently confirmed edition).
Contactless EMV validators are installed at every door on Florence and Tuscany buses and trams. A single tap-on ride costs €2.00 (as of Aug 2026) and covers 90 minutes including transfers, but you must remember to tap again if you re-board.
There is no standalone daily or weekly tourist transit pass; a paper carnet of 10 rides is the only discount option.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
Piazza Santa Croce is a good reference point when choosing where to stay.
The finish and bag drop are in the square, but the start is near Via delle Cascine on the Lungarno della Zecca riverside.
Checking the walk from bag drop to start line the day before means less wandering once you reach the square.
Bag drop accepts only the official race bags of competitive half marathon runners, with a bib sticker attached.
Backpacks and suitcases are not accepted.
Leave large luggage at your hotel and put only a change of clothes in the official bag.
Organizers also note that changing rooms are in nearby school facilities and no showers are provided, so plan somewhere to clean up after the finish.
Your bib contains the timing chip, so wear it visibly on the front of your chest.
Aid stations are on the Lungarno Vespucci and in Piazza Frescobaldi.
Marking the sections you pass twice on the map makes it easier to track the remaining aid stations.
Avoid stopping suddenly at square entrances or on bridges to take in the view.
Times are local to Florence. Check the latest official information before the race.
