Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“Hamburg can simply do it—weather, atmosphere, the course, or just a single Franzbrötchen.”
They encountered large crowds and performances from the start, and praised the continuous supportive atmosphere along the course through the city center.
Quoted from the original · translated
Hamburg kann es einfach – Wetter, Stimmung, Strecke oder einfach nur für das Franzbrötchen.
Read the original on toni runs the world“Encouraged by the many spectators at course and the support of my family and mother, I crossed the finish in 1 hour 28 minutes 45 seconds.”
Chris maintained a steady pace at the 2025 Hella Hamburg half marathon despite the warming weather and wind. Encouraged by spectators, including his family, he finished in 1 hour 28 minutes 45 seconds and won the M55 age category.

Getragen von den zahlreichen Zuschauern an der Strecke, darunter auch mein Bruder mit Familie und meine Mutter, überquerte ich nach 1:28:45 h die Ziellinie.
Read the original on freiluftmensch“Thank you, Hamburg. We had rain and clouds, sunshine and wind all in one day, but it was truly wonderful.”
Even on a day of mixed rain and heat, the runner ran the course comfortably and experienced a course with both quiet sections and sections lined with spectators.
Quoted from the original · translated
Hamburg, ich Danke dir. Regen, Wolken, Sonne, Wind an einem Tag. Du bist wunderbar.

The 32nd hella hamburg half marathon,
originally scheduled for 28 June 2026, was postponed because of extreme heat and moved to Sunday, 25 October.
The summer festival has therefore become an autumn event, offering cooler temperatures for runners targeting a personal best.
The start is on Reeperbahn, Hamburg's entertainment district.
From there, the course descends to the harbour, passes Landungsbrücken, follows the historic Speicherstadt warehouse district,
crosses Wallringtunnel and Kennedybrücke, loops around Außenalster and finishes at Messegelände.
It is a one-way course passing nearly 50 tourist attractions, although the finish is less than 2km from the start.
The entire course is mostly flat and paved, and results are recognized after official measurement.
More than 40 entertainment points, including DJs, live music, drummers and Low German sea-shanty choirs,
are spaced at an average of 500m, and runners come from more than 90 countries each year.
The event is an AIMS member race and received the World Athletics Label Road Race designation in 2026.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
Bib is non-transferable and must be collected in person, so proxy pickup is not allowed.
Pickup is available until 09:30 on race morning, but since the race starts at 09:30, it is safer to collect it the day before.
Use the official hvv App to buy digital tickets with your foreign credit/debit card or Apple/Google Pay — it's the easiest option for a short visit. If you prefer a physical option, ticket machines at U-Bahn/S-Bahn stations and on buses accept contactless bank cards to purchase a ticket (this pays for the ticket, not a tap-to-ride fare).
U-Bahn St. Pauli (U3) — directly at the start area on the Reeperbahn, St. Pauli
Race was originally scheduled 28 June 2026 but postponed to 25 October 2026 due to heat
U2 Messehallen (~7 min walk), S2/S5 to S Dammtor/Messe-CCH (~6 min walk), or U1 Stephansplatz (~10 min walk)
Finish at St. Petersburger Straße/Messegelände (Hamburg Messe, Ost entrance, in front of Planten un Blomen);
bag storage/changing in Halle B5.
No dedicated shuttle buses;
the race bib itself functions as a free HVV (Hamburg transit) ticket valid within Ringe A-F on race day, covering both the trip to start and return from finish.
Parking near start/finish (Heiligengeistfeld) very limited — organizers recommend U-/S-Bahn.
hvv Prepaid Card
hvv service centers, U-Bahn station ticket machines, and partner retailers across the hvv network
Not accepted at the gates — get the local card above
Alternative: Hamburg CARD from €12.90 (1-day single) — Worth it if you're sightseeing for multiple days, since it bundles unlimited hvv travel (zone AB, incl.
airport) with up to 50% off 150+ attractions.
Hamburg's transit system is proof-of-payment (no gates), so contactless bank cards work at ticket machines to purchase a ticket,
but there is no confirmed direct tap-in/tap-out open-loop fare system yet.
Some buses have stopped accepting cash entirely, making a card, app, or the hvv Prepaid Card the practical choice.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
The first start is at 9:30 am, with runners starting in blocks assigned according to the target time entered during registration.
Blocks are announced approximately 14 days before the event, and you may move to a later block yourself.
The finish closes at 14:40.
Bib is collected at Messegelände on Friday, 23 October, and Saturday, 24 October, from 10:00 to 20:00, or from 8:00 to 9:30 am on race day.
Race-day collection is busy, so Friday or Saturday collection is recommended.
You need bib number and photo ID, and postal delivery is not available.
On race day, bib allows you to travel to and from the event on Hamburg public transport in 2nd class in zones A–F.
Bags can be checked only at Messegelände from 8:00 am on Sunday.
There is no storage area at the start on Reeperbahn, so check your bag at the finish area and take the underground to the start at U-St.
Pauli.
There are seven aid station on course, and pacer runs in 15-minute intervals from 1:30 to 2:30.
Split times are recorded at 5, 10, 15 and 20km, but there is no live tracking.
Times are local to Hamburg. Check the latest official information before the race.
