Note: the closest matching race in the EDP/Maratona Clube de Portugal family is the Vodafone 10K (run each March alongside the EDP Lisbon Half Marathon). Transit below is for that race.

Getting to the finish
Mosteiro dos Jerónimos (Jerónimos Monastery), Belém — no metro directly; tram 15E and bus routes connect Belém to central Lisbon
Start at the 25 de Abril Bridge toll plaza (Almada side).

Fertagus train (free for participants with race bib) required to reach start; supplementary shuttle Belém→Fertagus station 7:00-8:00 AM. All Lisbon public transport free with bib until 4:00 PM for return.

Automatic ticket vending machines at every metro station, and ticket offices at major stations such as Cais do Sodré, Oriente, Sete Rios, Entrecampos, Marquês de Pombal, Restauradores and Terreiro do Paço. Works directly at the gates
Alternative: 24-hour unlimited travel pass (loaded on the Viva Viagem/Navegante card) €7.25 for metro + bus + tram; €11.00 for the version that also covers Sintra/Cascais suburban trains — Worth it only if you're making around 5 or more trips in a single day, since single pay-as-you-go rides are roughly €1.50-1.92 each. The Viva Viagem/Navegante card itself costs €0.50 and is valid for a year; you then load cash or a time-based pass onto it.
Lisbon's official metro site confirms contactless bank cards (VISA, VPAY, Electron, Mastercard) and linked Apple Pay/Google Pay work at validators across all stations — but you must tap the same card to exit that you used to enter, and it charges per-journey rather than capping automatically. Sources gave slightly different per-ride contactless prices (€1.50 vs €1.92), so treat the exact per-trip figure as approximate.
