MontrealTHE DREAM
This is the 5K event of the 33rd Montreal Marathon, held October 9-11, 2026.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“Crossing the line and breaking the finish tape felt absolutely fantastic!”
In the 2019 Montréal Marathon weekend's 5km race, the runner led alone from early on and focused on an individual pace. A 15:13 victory fell just short of the 15-minute goal but brought the joy of breaking a finish tape for the first time.

Mais quelle fantastique sensation que de franchir la ligne d’arrivée en déchirant la banderole!
Read the original on Guillaume Dupire“I finally crossed the finish in much better shape than I'd expected.”
With the Montréal Marathon's 10km sold out, the runner entered the 5km and trained consistently for a challenge different from usual soccer games. A 27:49.7 finish beat the 30-minute goal and placed 34th among 108 in the age group.

The Marathon Beneva de Montréal – 5K is a short road race that opens the race weekend in Montréal, Canada.
By participating in big events that include full marathon and half marathon, you can choose to compete at different distances than long distance.
Course starts from Rue des Cherbrucks and ends at Maisonneuve Park, connecting the city's streets and parks in one short route.
The basic form of course is that it connects two places rather than just returning to the place where you started.
This event accommodates both general participant running and the Canadian Masters Age Group Championships.
The championships are ranked by age group, and only qualified participants compete.
Because it is a short distance, it has two characteristics: it serves as an easy entry point to the competition weekend,
and it also serves as a stage for age-specific competitions.
This is why it is difficult to view it as just a side sport of full marathon.
Course is certified by the Canadian Athletics Organization and records are measured based on chips.
Organizers organize charity runs and disabled sports participation programs throughout the event.
It is a form of running where multiple streets are opened together and different participants join the running event in the same city.
We also introduce an operation to reduce the burden on the environment,
and instead of automatically providing official t-shirts to all participants, they are optional.
It is revealed that the participation method for the entire event is broader than the distance for one event.
It is a clear choice for runners who want to experience the competition atmosphere of Montréal in a short city course.

Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
Bib can only be collected at Expo, and race-day collection is not available.
As the 5K takes place on October 10, you must collect it before the 17:00 closing time on the same day.
Required documents and proxy collection rules are not specified on the official page.
Buy an OPUS card (Montréal's reloadable transit card) at any métro station — foreign contactless bank cards don't work on the STM métro or most buses yet, so you need the physical card.
near Jardin Botanique (Montreal Botanical Garden), via Pie-IX Metro station
DIFFERS FROM THE FULL MARATHON: per the official Courons MTL 'Plan your visit' page, the 5K (and 10K) start near the Jardin Botanique using Pie-IX Metro —
NOT at Parc Jean-Drapeau/Île Sainte-Hélène, where the full and half marathon start instead (via Jean-Drapeau Metro).
Parc Maisonneuve, near Pie-IX Metro station
Finish in the Parc Maisonneuve/Olympic Park area —
same general finish zone as the full marathon (near Rue Sainte-Catherine/Parc La Fontaine per existing DB data for montreal-marathon-2026),
both reachable via Pie-IX Metro, a short walk from Olympic Stadium.
No dedicated race shuttle;
organizers direct runners to Montreal's STM metro system, recommend buying round-trip metro tickets in advance to avoid queues.
Parking near start/finish/metro stations reservable via clicknpark app.
BIXI bike-share also suggested.

Not accepted at the gates — get the local card above
Alternative: 3-Day, All Modes A pass CAD $22 —
Worth it if you'll take more than about 4-5 rides over a 3-day stay, e.g. race weekend plus expo/sightseeing days.
Contactless foreign bank card tap-in is only piloted on some suburban exo/STL buses outside Montréal proper, not on the STM métro or most city buses —
don't rely on it.
Load the pass onto an OPUS card (small deposit for the card itself, refundable).
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
Bib can only be received at the Expo before the game and cannot be received on the day of the game.
When picking up, please have your ID and the QR code you received by email ready.
Proxy pick-up requires a signed power of attorney, a copy of the participant's ID, and the representative's ID.
The expo is held at the Palais des congrès de Montréal on the street west of Viger in the city center,
so it is best to plan separate travel for bib and travel on game day.
The departure zone number is displayed in bib based on the estimated speed submitted during application.
When you arrive at the event venue, it is best to find your own area first, store your luggage, and then enter.
You must retrieve the items you left in the same storage area after completing the race and show the storage certificate given by the management.
Please do not leave the storage voucher with your belongings.
Water and sports drink are provided at course and finals, and there are also restrooms near some supply points.
Companions can use the participant tracking feature in the official COURONS app,
so it's convenient to share bib information before departure and where to meet after finishing.
Times are local to Montreal. Check the latest official information before the race.
