From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“Now I know the course, so I know where the aid station are.”
Werner Kerkenbusch says the Wellen Marathon's flat, green countryside course and generous time limit let him run without pressure. He also appreciated the finisher certificate prepared immediately after his two laps.

So on race morning, you can just run.
No station directly in Wellen; nearest regional rail is Beverstedt station (RB33 line), a few km away — Wellen is a district of Beverstedt, Lower Saxony
No official public-transit walking directions published;
It's a small-town/countryside 'Volkslauf' around Wellen —
official site's own directions page relies on an embedded Google Map rather than transit instructions, consistent with a car-oriented rural event.
Same rural Wellen course area; Beverstedt station is the nearest rail access point
No separate finish-area transit info published

The organizers describe the “Rund um Wellen” Marathon, founded in 1971, as Germany’s fourth-oldest marathon according to Wikipedia.
It takes place every year on the first Sunday of August at the TSV Wellen clubhouse in Wellen, Beverstedt, Lower Saxony.
Alongside the full marathon (42.195 km), the program also includes half marathon, 11 km, 5 km and Kids Run.
Advance registration is available only through the official website and closes approximately one week before the race (July 27 in the previous year).
Entry fee is paid by bank transfer (direct debit)—note that there are no refunds if you do not participate after registering.
Same-day registration is also available until 30 minutes before each event’s start,
but an additional €3 registration fee applies to every event except Kids Run.
As a typical small-town German marathon organized jointly by the TSV Wellen athletics club and the local fire brigade,
runners should check the official website, which is updated annually, for the final Entry fee, start times and other details.
Times are local to Wellen. Check the latest official information before the race.
