The road to your own record
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.

The city you want to run becomes your next trip.
THE DREAM
It is held on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
The events are a certified full marathon, half marathon, and a 3.25-mile run/walk.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“I finished in 3:42:11. That’s my fastest marathon this year.”The runner clocked 3 hours 42 minutes 11 seconds at Marshall University Marathon, running the second half over 4 minutes faster than the first. They enjoyed carrying a football towards the stadium finish for a distinctive finish.
“I learned that if you have trained hard for marathon 1, then you don't have to do a lot of mileage for a marathon 4 weeks later provided you adjust your nutritional intake accordingly.”The runner clocked 3 hours 3 minutes 2 seconds at Marshall University Marathon, returning to a full marathon just 4 weeks after Boston. A flat course, cold weather and ample carbohydrates made it more comfortable than the previous race.
We translated a short line from each public race report and summarized the experience. Finish times are as stated by the author, and past editions may differ from this year's weather and operations.
Preview the course and read what runners who went before you wrote.

The Marshall University Marathon is a road race that connects the riverside, parks, and university memories of Huntington, West Virginia.
Passing through views of the Ohio River and urban green spaces, the organizers present course as a flat and fast route.
Full marathon is operated as a certified distance, and half marathon and short runs and walks are also held,
so runners aiming for records and local participants share the same event.
In full marathon, we continue the scenery of Huntington by going around the same section of the city again.
The final scene of the competition is connected to the college football culture.
A representative feature of this race is the completion method, in which participants hold a football across the grass field and pass the goal line.
Unlike typical road finals, the race ends inside the stadium, so the college sports space becomes the stage for the runners' completion.
Marco, the university mascot, also welcomes participants, adding to the atmosphere of an event created jointly by the region and the university.
Full marathon also contains the meaning of remembrance.
Participants returning to campus can receive flowers and place them in the Marshall University Memorial Fountain.
This is a way to remember the plane crash that killed the college football team and its officials,
and is connected to the incident that served as the background for the movie “We Are Marshalls.” Participation in laying flowers is optional,
but the ride through the city includes moments of exposure to the history of the university community.
The nature of the Marshall University Marathon is that the open scenery of the riverside,
the path in the park, the race finish, and the memorial are all placed together in one race.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
Someone else may collect your packet if they bring a copy of the participant’s photo ID, either physical or electronic.
On race morning, only bib will be provided; receiving the swag requires a paid same-day service.
10/30 (Fri) 17:00–20:00, 10/31 (Sat) 10:00–18:00 · On race morning, only bib next to start line
TTA (Tri-State Transit Authority) bus hub, 4th Avenue, Huntington — about two blocks from the Old Main entrance to Marshall's campus and a short walk to the start on 3rd Avenue next to Joan C. Edwards Stadium
Start is on 3rd Avenue beside Joan C. Edwards Stadium, immediately adjacent to Marshall University's campus in downtown Huntington.
Huntington has no passenger rail/subway; the local TTA bus system (9 routes, hub 2 blocks from campus, runs Mon–Sat) is the only public transit near the start/finish.
Same TTA hub area (4th Avenue) — finish is inside Joan C. Edwards Stadium on the football field, same campus vicinity as the start
Course loops through downtown Huntington, Pullman Square, along the Ohio River, and Ritter Park before returning to the stadium.

On that day, you can only receive bib next to start line.
If you want to receive a souvenir on the same day, you must apply for a separate same-day pickup service during the registration process.
University parking is free and open to participants, but some access roads will be closed once preparations for departure begin.
If you arrive late, you should go to the parking lot on 3rd Avenue or another parking area at the university as indicated in the official directions.
It is best to avoid using the private parking lots of nearby stores as they may be towed.
We do not provide storage services, so you will have to plan your route by leaving your luggage in your vehicle or with a companion.
