“I felt more comfortable and increased my pace over the final few kilometres, but I did not reach my target time.”

eldeportivo30 experienced a large field and the music, cheering and aid stations of the 2012 Buenos Aires 21K. Congestion and hills early on affected the pace, but eldeportivo30 increased the pace in the second half and finished in 1 hour 46 minutes.

Stations & transport near the venue

Either buy a SUBE card (works on subte, buses, and suburban trains) or, since January 2025, just tap a contactless Visa or Mastercard directly at the gate — both work well for visiting runners.

Getting to the start

Av. Figueroa Alcorta y Dorrego, Palermo — nearest Subte Línea D (sources vary: 'Palermo' ~1.3km/17min walk, or 'Scalabrini Ortiz'/'Plaza Italia')

Corral/start-village access 6:45-7:45am.

Colectivo lines 34, 37, 130, 160, 166 stop nearby but expect to walk the final ~1km+ since vehicle access is cut near the venue race morning.

Getting to the finish

same location as start — Av. Figueroa Alcorta y Dorrego (loop-back course)

Per prior edition, the finish/start zone saw total road closure from the afternoon before through mid-day of race day — no drop-off directly at the corner.

Confirmed for 2026: total closure of Av.

Figueroa Alcorta between Juramento and Monroe, 23:00 Sat-15:00 Sun.

More details

No race-organized shuttle;

organizers/press point to Subte Línea D, colectivo, or ride-hailing (drop-off several blocks out due to closures).

Significant closures citywide Sat night through Sun midday across Palermo, Recoleta, Retiro, San Nicolás/microcentro, Montserrat, San Telmo, Plaza de Mayo.

IC card

SUBE card

Kiosks (kioskos), most train and subway stations, and Correo Argentino post offices;

a kiosk in the Ezeiza International Airport arrivals hall also sells them.

Works directly at the gates

More details

You'll need to show ID/passport and fill out a short form to get a SUBE card, and top-ups can be done at station machines or kiosks.

Since contactless bank cards and phone/watch NFC payments have been accepted directly on subte and buses since January 2025, many tourists now skip the card altogether —

check that your specific bank's card supports contactless.

READY TO RUN

From race morning to after the finish.

Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.

The race starts at 8am in waves.

Because each wave has a different start time, check the start group shown on bib in advance.

Buenos Aires is in the Southern Hemisphere, so race day falls during the seasonal transition.

Cold air moving up from the south can cause a sharp drop in temperature, while warm, humid air from the north can make conditions hot and muggy.

The perceived temperature can vary considerably from year to year.

Course is a loop starting in the Palermo parks and passing city landmarks before returning,

so runners pass aid stations and the main spectator zones several times.

With plenty of flat running, it is considered a course that favours runners able to hold a steady pace.

Times are local to Buenos Aires. Check the latest official information before the race.
