Mi Teleferico Linea Roja, Irpavi or Jardin de la Nacion station, a short walk from Calle 15 de Calacoto where this type of Zona Sur race typically starts
Mi Teleférico card (cable car system only — city buses/minibuses have no card system)
Purchased/loaded at any Mi Teleférico cable car station via machine or staffed kiosk
Not accepted at the gates — get the local card above
Alternative: Mi Teleférico day pass ~25 BOB (available at staffed kiosks, not vending machines) —
Worth it if you plan multiple cable-car line rides in one day for sightseeing;
for a single ride, the cash single-ride ticket (~3 BOB) is cheaper.
La Paz has two separate systems: Mi Teleférico, the cable-car network, with its own rechargeable card and station-sold tickets (cash, bolivianos);
and the city's minibuses/micros/trufis (the main way to get around at street level),
which are informal, privately-run, and strictly cash-only (~1.5-3 BOB per ride) —
pay the driver or fare collector directly, exact change appreciated.
La Paz's main tourist-friendly transit is Mi Teleferico (cable car), using a rechargeable card sold at any station for a low flat fare (about 3 Bs per ride);
Pumakatari buses and shared minibuses (trufis) fill gaps but mostly take cash only, no contactless bank cards.
Zona Sur is about 30-40 minutes from the city center via teleferico or trufi.
