ABOUT THE RACE

A day you'll remember,
long past the finish line.

Despite its name, this is not an urban greenway.

There is no pavement or well-groomed trail.

It's held on private green space on the outskirts of Charlotte and is mostly technical singletrack, mixed with gravel and dirt paths.

There are several stream crossings, which can increase depending on the weather, and the course is prone to becoming muddy.

Getting to the start

No public transit; car access only. Start/finish at Rush Pavilion, Anne Springs Close Greenway, 250 Dairy Barn Lane, Fort Mill, SC (Lake Haigler Entrance).

From I-77 Exit 85, follow Hwy 160 east toward Fort Mill, then left at Hwy 21 for ~2 miles to the Greenway entrance;

gate attendant directs to Rush Pavilion.

Do not rely on GPS, as it often routes to the wrong Greenway entrance.

Getting to the finish

Same as start — Rush Pavilion, Anne Springs Close Greenway (50K is a two-loop course finishing where it starts).

No separate finish-line transit access; same greenway entrance/parking as start.

Road closures

Access to the Lake Haigler entrance via Highway 160/21 is recommended;

GPS navigation is not recommended (multiple entrances).

Charlotte's CATS system uses the CharlotteCARD/mobile app, but its coverage doesn't extend across the state line to Fort Mill,

so a car or rideshare is needed for this suburban trail venue.

READY TO RUN

This race is a reorganized version of the former 'Mill Stone 50K,' renamed 'Millstone Trail Races' starting in 2027.

The 50K is run as two laps of a 15.5-mile loop at Anne Springs Close Greenway in Fort Mill, South Carolina,

and a new 25K category will replace the former 10-mile race, with a 10K and kids' race also being added.

Course is not a landscaped urban greenway but a technical trail made up mostly of singletrack.

There are some sections of gravel and dirt path mixed in, along with stream crossings,

and the number of crossings may increase depending on the weather, with muddy sections likely —

so trail shoes and a spare pair of socks are recommended.

The registration deadline guaranteeing your size is mid-January,

and while registration remains open until early February, a commemorative T-shirt size is not guaranteed after that.
