“My knee didn't feel good even during the warm-up, so I thought today would be a struggle.”

The runner tackled the 20km at the Mitoyo Urashima Marathon despite knee trouble and impaired vision. Running mostly alone from midway, they stayed focused on chasing runners ahead and finished in 1:24:19, placing 8th and meeting their top-10 goal.

Per prior edition (6th edition/most recent published info): from Tagoma Station, take the 三豊市コミュニティバス (Mitoyo City community bus) - runs Sundays/holidays only - to reach the venue area (詫間町弓道場駐車場, Tagoma archery hall parking lot). Details are per the prior edition since 2026-specific (8th edition) transit details are not yet published.

The 8th Mitoyo Urashima Marathon will accept entries from 19 June to 5 October 2026.

Applications are made through online platforms such as RUNNET and Sports Entry.

Please note that, separate from Entry fee, a system usage fee is charged: Entry fee up to 4,000 yen incurs a fee of 220 yen,

while higher amounts incur approximately Entry fee 5% of the total.

Based on recent editions, the half marathon capacity has been 1,200 runners, time limit has had a 3-hour time limit, and Entry fee has been around 5,000 yen.

As entries close on a first-come, first-served basis, it is safest to apply as soon as registration opens.
