“I crossed the finish line in 4:51:49.”Happy Running Soul endured cold and late knee pain to finish the 2017 Mobile First Light Marathon in 4 hours 51 minutes 49 seconds. Although the target time slipped away, the wooden finisher medal made by L'Arche Mobile participants and the warm welcome from finish became lasting memories.
“We walked, sang, laughed & joked our way thru the miles. I must say it was easier than I anticipated.”Amanda finished the 2016 Mobile First Light Marathon in 5 hours 6 minutes on the second day of back-to-back marathons. She enjoyed the historic neighbourhoods and university campuses, bicycle support and thoughtful refreshments, praising the relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

RACE WEEK
Know the course and time limit, and race day comes into focus.
From the 2026 editionThe Mobile Marathon is a charity road race held in downtown Mobile, Alabama, USA.
In addition to full marathon and half marathon, we run team competitions and Fun Run, and all events support the First Light community.
This organization creates a home where people with and without intellectual disabilities live together and continues a community that respects the value of each person.
The social purpose of the competition is directly connected to supporting local living communities.
Full marathon starts from Mardi Gras Park and runs half marathon twice, returning to the same place.
It connects the streets of Mobile, including Government Street, Dauphin Street, and Church Street, centered around the city center.
Full marathon The participant passes the same road section as half marathon again.
The flow back to the park forms the center of the full marathon race.
Full marathon and half marathon were each distance certified by the American Association of Track and Field.
The team division participates in the same road race by running each section separately.
First Right Communities, which the competition sponsors, operates co-living homes in Mobile's historic Midtown neighborhood.
Sharing the daily lives of adults with intellectual disabilities and other members is a core activity of the organization,
and has continued to play this role in the region for a long time.
Participating in a mobile marathon is an activity that supports community life in these areas while challenging distance records.
Urban circulation course, team running, and short Fun Run share the same sponsorship purpose, allowing citizens to participate in various ways.
Not yet confirmed in the official race guide
This may change for the next edition.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
Packet pickup information has not yet been announced.

None confirmed by name, but well served by downtown transit
Start/finish is at Mardi Gras Park, 104 Royal Street, in downtown Mobile, AL.
Unlike the other races in this batch, this is a genuine downtown venue served by The Wave Transit System, which runs 11 local bus routes plus the moda!
circulator trolley that loops through downtown hotels, government buildings, and entertainment/historic sites.
Best-served-by-transit venue in this batch: a true downtown course reachable via The Wave Transit System's downtown trolley and local bus routes,
rather than car-only.
Same downtown Mobile area (Mardi Gras Park)
Finish is essentially at the start (Mardi Gras Park), within the moda!
trolley loop and downtown Wave Transit route coverage.
No race-organizer shuttle found;
downtown public transit (Wave Transit local routes + moda!
trolley) is the practical alternative for runners without a car.
Mobile, AL has no rechargeable transit card;
The Wave Transit operates local buses with cash/exact-change fares (around $1.50/ride).
Mobile Marathon starts downtown near the convention center, which is walkable from most downtown hotels,
so a rental car or rideshare is the practical option for reaching the start.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
January averages 12°C. In Mobile, wind is more important than cold.
A thin windbreaker will protect your body temperature, and leave dry clothes in advance to change into after the race.
The venue is an area without public transportation.
Plans are made based on the assumption that you will travel by car or rental car.
Applications are processed through the RunSignup platform.
The collapse at full marathon is usually located at one location, around 30 km.
The 30 seconds saved in the first half saves 5 minutes in the second half.
Do not skip water and take a little at each section.
Departure is as early as 07:30.
Considering waking up, breakfast, and transportation, it is easier to find accommodation close to start line the day before.
Applications are accepted until January 9, 2027.
Times are local to Mobile. Check the latest official information before the race.
