About 3km, for families, children and casual runners
The touring event 'Pokémon RUN 30,' celebrating Pokémon's 30th anniversary, will be held at Hong Kong Science Park on January 23–24, 2027.
This Hong Kong edition is part of a series that has already toured locations across Asia, including Singapore and the Philippines.
The approximately 3 km course is designed for families, children and casual runners to enjoy together.
Participants choose their 'first partner Pokémon' before course starts,
then collect stickers while passing through Pokémon Gym-themed obstacles placed throughout course, combining game elements into the experience.
By the time they reach finish, they can see their partner Pokémon 'evolve.'
A Pokémon Festival Zone with free admission will also operate around course.
It is expected to feature a Pokémon pop-up store selling limited-edition merchandise, photo spots, meet-and-greet events with Pikachu,
and the 'Pokémon Time Tunnel' exhibition looking back at the history of the games, anime and trading cards.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
Information about bib and event-pack pickup has not yet been announced.
Hong Kong-themed running events typically offer pickup at a designated collection centre before race day, so check the organizer’s announcements.
Get the Octopus Card — cash-only, about HK$39, and it works across the entire network (MTR, buses, trams, ferries), unlike bank-card tap-in which only covers the MTR.
大學站 University Station (MTR East Rail Line), ~19-min walk to Hong Kong Science Park; or take bus/circular route 272K or 272A from University Station directly to the Science Park
Venue is Hong Kong Science Park, Pak Shek Kok, Sha Tin. This is general public-transit access info for the Science Park, not a race-specific instruction.
Same as start — single-loop fun run (~3km) starting and finishing within the Science Park carnival area
Same access as start (University Station + bus/circular route to Science Park).
No dedicated race shuttle found; public bus route 272K provides circular service between University Station and the Science Park.
Octopus Card
At Hong Kong International Airport: MTR Customer Service Centres in the arrivals hall, counters by the Airport Express platforms, 24/7 self-service vending machines, or the 7-Eleven in the Arrivals hall. Also available at almost any MTR station and convenience stores citywide.
Works directly at the gates Alternative: MTR Tourist Day Pass USD 9.60 (approx.
HK$75) — Only worth it if you're packing in 5+ MTR-only rides in a single day, since it excludes Airport Express, Light Rail first class, and doesn't cover buses/trams/ferries the way Octopus does. Airport/MTR counters sell the Octopus card for HKD cash only, so have Hong Kong dollars ready.
The 'Tourist' Octopus starts from HK$39 with no refundable deposit. Foreign Visa, Mastercard, and UnionPay contactless cards can tap directly at designated light-blue 'Contactless Payment' gates for MTR and Airport Express rides — but only at adult fares, and it doesn't cover Light Rail, MTR buses, or High Speed Rail.
Octopus, by contrast, works across the whole system: MTR, Airport Express, buses, minibuses, taxis, the street tram, Star Ferry, and outlying-island ferries.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
Runner registration is expected to open around September 2026, although the timing may change.
Entry fee is expected to include a 'Pokémon RUN 30 Runner Kit,' but the exact price has not yet been officially announced —
it may be useful to note that Entry fee for the same series in other Asian cities, such as Singapore,
was around 98–158 Singapore dollars, but this should not be taken as a direct indication of the Hong Kong price.
The Pokémon Festival Zone, held separately from the run, will be open to everyone free of charge from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Times are local to Hong Kong. Check the latest official information before the race.
