THE DREAM
Participants each bring a pumpkin and carry it up to the mountain summit.
Pumpkins are handed out at random, and runners who bring theirs back undamaged receive a prize.

Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“I ran my ass off and my legs were screaming.”Harvey repeatedly climbed and descended Kennesaw Mountain in the Pumpkin Butt 50km, carrying a small pumpkin in his backpack on lap four. Pushing through pain to the end, he finished 4th just before 6 hours.
“Not wanting to risk doing serious damage myself, I decided to call it quits, so I headed back.”The rocky, steep climbs of Kennesaw Mountain made this runner slower than expected in the Pumpkin Butt 50km. Carrying a pumpkin on lap four, the runner ultimately stopped around 35km because of persistent leg cramps.
We translated a short line from each public race report and summarized the experience. Finish times are as stated by the author, and past editions may differ from this year's weather and operations.

Last (5th) lap starts by 15:00
Course is a loop course consisting of five laps of an approximately 10km loop, for a total of 50km.
The first lap runs clockwise, circling the western foot of the mountain, turning at the bench,
climbing to the 'The Rock' point on Pigeon Hill, and then continuing to the summit.
The trail then descends, follows a road, turns right near the visitor center, and returns via the trail to the start/finish;
subsequent laps alternate direction.
Each lap gains over 1,000 feet of elevation, and the surface is a mix of soft dirt, service roads, rocky and steep single-track, and some asphalt.
This event is open only to members of the Georgia Ultrarunning and Trailrunning Society (GUTS).

Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, 900 Kennesaw Mountain Drive (the park straddles the Marietta/Kennesaw line), GA
No public transit. The official listing confirms Kennesaw, GA and states, “Parking is limited, so please carpool!” Specific lot names are listed on the GUTS club pages (getguts.com).
Some secondary listings label the venue “Marietta” instead of “Kennesaw” — this is not a date or venue conflict; the park sits on the city boundary.
Same start/finish area within the battlefield park — 5-loop (~10K each) course
Aid station at the start/finish, passed once per loop.
Parking space limited, carpooling encouraged
No dedicated transit card system reaches the venue itself; although metro Atlanta's transit (MARTA, using the Breeze card) and CobbLinc buses serve greater Kennesaw, neither extends to the trail loop, so car access is required for the race.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
Eligibility is limited to members of GUTS (Georgia Ultrarunning and Trailrunning Society),
so anyone considering participating should check the membership process in advance.
In late October, the Kennesaw area generally sees cool autumn weather with daytime temperatures between 15-20°C,
and it is even colder in the mornings and evenings.
Trail shoes are recommended due to rocky, steep sections.
Times are local to Kennesaw. Check the latest official information before the race.
