“I felt “with it”…just frustrated I couldn’t push due to the above mentioned points.”

In the Rio del Lago 100-mile race, the runner fueled steadily and managed their pace but slowed with poor night visibility and blisters. They finished in 25 hours 5 minutes, improving on the previous year by 1 hour 41 minutes.

In the Rio del Lago 100-mile race, the runner struggled with ankle pain and sleepiness, then took a wrong turn near mile 66. With Sean's mutual support, they stayed together to the end and completed their second 100-mile race.

Getting to the start

No train/bus/subway service - Beal's Point day-use area, Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, Granite Bay, CA, is a rural park reachable only by car.

Start/finish is at Beal's Point;

onsite parking available (day-use fee applies at the state rec area gate).

Genuinely rural trailhead venue with zero public transit access - a personal or crew vehicle is required.

Sacramento International Airport is roughly 30-40 minutes away by car.

Getting to the finish

Same as start - Beal's Point (both 100-mile and 50K finish here after their loop/out-and-back course).

No public transit nearby; nearest sizable town is Granite Bay/Folsom, CA.

crew/pacers access aid stations by personal vehicle along the course.

Stations & transport near the venue

No dedicated transit card system;

Granite Bay near Folsom Lake is a car-access suburban/rural area outside Sacramento with no relevant transit line serving the venue.

READY TO RUN

From race morning to after the finish.

Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.

The start is at Beals Point Recreation Area in Granite Bay, and the 100-mile course goes from Folsom to Auburn and back.

Combining parts of the American River 50 and Way Too Cool 50K course, it passes around Folsom Lake, along the American River Parkway, the Johnny Cash Trail,

and near Folsom Prison, continuing through the Western States Trail section of Auburn State Recreation Area to the historic No Hands Bridge.

The 50K starts at the same point as the 100-mile runners and covers only the earlier section near Folsom Lake, Lake Natoma, and the Johnny Cash Trail.

Along course, there are several well-stocked aid station and drop bag points.
