Getting to the start

Beach 90th Street (A train, rush-hour only, and Rockaway Park Shuttle at all times)

Start/finish is on the boardwalk at Beach 94th Street, Rockaway Beach, Queens — just a few blocks from the Beach 90th Street IND Rockaway Line station. The Beach 116th Street station (also A/Shuttle) is another nearby option a bit further south.

bib pickup 6:00 AM, all races start 8:00 AM.

Transit card

Rockaway Beach is served by NYC's A train (Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St terminal) and buses, all paid via OMNY - MetroCard was phased out as of January 1, 2026. Tap a contactless bank card or phone directly at the turnstile/farebox (no need to buy a separate card); the flat base fare is $3.00 with a $35 weekly cap. OMNY cards (if preferred over a bank card) can be bought/reloaded at station vending machines or participating retailers.

The start line at Beach 94th Street is walkable from Beach 90th Street station on the A line,

with the Rockaway Park shuttle running regularly, making this one of the few marathons in New York accessible by subway.

A course out-and-back along the boardwalk, it has no shade, so a hat and sunscreen are essential.

Taking a dip in the ocean after finishing is the event’s unique reward.

Registration is handled by Rockaway Track Club.
