This is a course run in view of the Maruoka Castle keep, built in 1576, and with little elevation change it's suitable even for first-time participants.

Getting to the start

Fukui Station East Exit (福井駅東口)

Venue is Maruoka Sports Hall (丸岡体育館), Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture. Organizer runs a temporary shuttle bus from Fukui Station East Exit, departing 6:40 AM and 7:10 AM on race day.

Maruoka Library north parking lot

Return shuttle departs from the north-side parking lot of Maruoka Library at 11:50 AM and 12:20 PM back toward Fukui Station.

The start and finish point is Kasumigajo Park Fureai Plaza, beneath the Maruoka Castle keep.

The events are divided into 21.1km (half marathon), 10km, 5km, 3km, and 2km.

At the most recent edition (the 18th), 2,547 participants from both inside and outside the prefecture ran through the castle town and surrounding rural area,

even in the rain.
