“I crossed the line at 1:42:16. It was the worst I’ve felt racing in a long time.”

Jesica struggled early in humid heat at the 2018 Savannah Women's half marathon but finished in 1 hour, 42 minutes, 16 seconds. She improved on her previous postpartum time, though she felt the placement of aid station and insufficient drinks had made the run harder.

Jesica started comfortably at the 2015 Publix Savannah Women's half marathon, then left the pacer group and finished in 1 hour, 40 minutes, 48 seconds. She enjoyed the flat course and easy logistics, but wished the aid station had more sports drink.

Getting to the start

No train/subway station in Savannah. Nearest transit is Chatham Area Transit (CAT) buses and the free downtown 'dot' shuttle's Forsyth Loop, which runs along Drayton St/Whitaker St between Johnson Square and Forsyth Park.

Start line is at the intersection of Drayton & Gwinnett Streets, at the edge of Forsyth Park.

The free dot Forsyth Loop shuttle stops directly along this route.

Savannah has no subway/rail transit;

access is via CAT bus/dot shuttle or on foot from downtown hotels.

Getting to the finish

Same as start area — dot Forsyth Loop shuttle / CAT bus, downtown Savannah historic district.

Finish is at the Forsyth Park fountain, a short walk (under 10 min) from the start line and from downtown hotels/CAT stops.

Publix Savannah Women’s Half & 5K is a women-only running event through the historic district of Savannah, Georgia.

It began in the early 2020s and is held every year in early April.

The expo and advance bib pickup take place on the Friday before the race at Kehoe Iron Works in Trustees Garden.

Participants can collect their bib, a commemorative running shirt and promotional items from local businesses.

Race-day bib pickup is also available near Forsyth Park, but on-site registration may be closed if the event is close to selling out,

so advance registration and Friday pickup are recommended.

The course starts at the intersection of Drayton and Gwinnett Streets, passes through several of Savannah’s downtown squares,

runs by Forsyth Park and along the tree-lined section near Daffin Park, and then heads to the finish line in front of the fountain at Forsyth Park.
