In the Sinnemahoning 50K, the runner found faint forest trails with friends and overcame a fall on a steep descent. Kind volunteer support helped them finish fifth in 6 hours 59 minutes 46 seconds.

Getting to the start

Start/finish based at/near the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce, Emporium, PA. Course runs on rail-trail, dirt roads, and through Elk State Forest in the PA Wilds region, with 12k/25k/50k options.

Remote rural north-central Pennsylvania town with no public transit — private car only.

Getting to the finish

Finish is at the same Emporium base as the start, with food provided afterward.

Course alternates between rail trail sections and unpaved roads, with DCNR-managed trails through Elk State Forest,

starting and ending at Emporium, the county seat of Cameron County.

The highest elevation reaches approximately 2,200 feet,

with the 50K event experiencing approximately 4,000 feet of cumulative elevation gain, making it a hilly course.

Course aid stations are located throughout the course with water and supplies, and food is provided after finishing.
