RACE WEEK
Know the course and time limit, and race day comes into focus.
From the 2026 editionCourse starts on Dawn Fraser Avenue in Sydney Olympic Park,
passes the Sydney Olympic Park athletics track section and the area around Accor Stadium, then reaches finish on the athletics track.
Both the half marathon and the 10 km course are AIMS-certified, and the event also serves as the New South Wales half marathon Championships.
Start times are staggered by event and time group: the elite Wheelchair Division starts at 6:20 am,
half marathon elite and Wave A (90 minutes or faster) start at 6:25 am, and Waves B, C and D (90–120 minutes or faster) start at 6:55 am.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
The organizers recommend collecting your race pack on Saturday to avoid race-day congestion.
Collection by proxy is allowed if the participant confirmation receipt is presented.
If you need to register and collect your pack on race day, arrive one hour before the start; if you have already collected it, arrive 30 minutes before the start.

Just tap your contactless bank card, phone, or watch at the Opal reader — no card to buy, and the same fares and daily caps apply automatically.
Official Race Roster event page recommends P1 Car Park (short walk to the start outside Accor Stadium, corner of Edwin Flack & Dawn Fraser Ave) at Sydney Olympic Park,
with 4 hours free parking if validated post-race before 2pm.
No train station, Metro, or bus route was named on the official pages checked.
Despite this being a major-city race, the official Race Roster pages fetched did not surface public transport/train details (only parking guidance was found).
start/finish both at/near Accor Stadium, Sydney Olympic Park.
Opal card
2,000+ retailers across NSW (look for the Opal sign) including many newsagents, Woolworths supermarkets,
and 7-Eleven stores, at the two airport train stations, some Service NSW centres, or ordered online from opal.com.au.
Works directly at the gates
As of 2026, a physical Opal card isn't necessary for visitors —
any contactless credit/debit card or mobile wallet gets identical fares and caps to an Opal card.
Daily fare capping happens automatically: once you hit the adult cap (around $19.30 on weekdays, $9.65 on weekends), the rest of that day's travel is free —
there's no separate day-pass product to buy.
Gotcha: use the exact same card or device for every tap that day — mixing your card and your phone breaks the transfer/cap linkage and can charge you extra.
Overseas-issued cards may incur one foreign transaction fee per day.
Sydney uses the Opal card,
but visitors can simply tap a contactless Visa/Mastercard/Amex or phone wallet (Apple Pay/Google Pay) at readers for the same fares and daily cap (about 19.30 dollars weekdays, 9.65 dollars weekends).
Physical Opal cards are sold at 7-Eleven, newsagents, Woolworths, and stations for a minimum 10-dollar top-up.
Sydney Olympic Park, the race venue, is reachable by Metro/train and ferry, both accepting the same tap on/tap off system.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
Pick up bib from the NSW Athletics office at Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre.
The official operation guide recommends pickup in advance rather than on the morning of the competition,
and substitute recipients are required to bring a receipt confirming participation.
If you applied for mail receipt but bib has not arrived, contact the organizer through the inquiry form.
If you go to the pickup location in advance, you can also check the entrance route to the stadium.
For parking, use the designated parking lot at Olympic Park, and check your parking ticket at the Athletics Center reception.
Pre-paid parking passes are not included in this verification.
For public transport, check out connections from your accommodation using the NSW transport route search linked by the official page.
Since we do not have a separate luggage storage area,
please reduce the amount of items you need to bring and separate the luggage for your companions or your accommodation.
There is a water point at course and water and fruit are provided at the finish, but there is no water at course for the family run.
