THE DREAM

About Van Oers Marathon Brabant — what makes it special

ABOUT THE RACE

A day you'll remember,
long past the finish line.

Van Oers Marathon Brabant is a flat, mostly paved autumn marathon in Etten-Leur.

The 42.2 km course consists of two almost equal loops, starting on Oude Bredaseweg and finishing on the Markt.

The rural sections follow country roads and cycle paths;

the course crosses the A58 via overpasses.

The road to your own record

Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.

When the city cheers

Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.

The trip that follows the run

Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.

Van Oers Marathon Brabant runner reviews and race reports

Stories from those who ran it first.

From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.

Race reports: 2
Ronald van der EfferenRan in 2023

Ronald finished in 3:53:53 in 2023. He wrote about rainy rural and forest stretches, slowing down late in the race, a highway overpass around the 39K mark, and getting lost looking for the shuttle after the finish. He also mentioned the post-race shower and soup.

Their race in brief

We translated a short line from each public race report and summarized the experience. Finish times are as stated by the author, and past editions may differ from this year's weather and operations.

According to the organizer, 2026 entry fees are €42 for Atletiekunie members who register by 29 September,

READY TO RUN

From race morning to after the finish.

Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.

Current race-day rules come from the organizer; the participant reports below are from older editions and are included as personal experiences only.

Registration and bib

  • Early registration runs from 1 May through 29 September 2026; after that, the higher fee of €52 applies. The online form closes 30 minutes before the start, unless all 750 places fill up first.
  • If you live outside the Netherlands, collect your bib at De Nobelaer. Pickup is available on Saturday 24 October 09:30–15:00 and Sunday 25 October from 09:00 until half an hour before the start. The organizer does not send bibs abroad.
  • During early registration, you can change your distance or transfer a bib through the official resale platform. Entry fees are non-refundable; switching to a shorter distance does not qualify for a refund.

Time limit and two laps

  • The start is at 10:45; the second-lap checkpoint at 21 km closes at 13:15 (2.5 hours after the start). The finish closes at 15:45, giving you a maximum of five hours.
  • The course is mostly paved and consists of two nearly identical laps through the countryside. The viaducts over the A58 are the main elevation changes listed.
  • The 2026 course map has not yet been published. Use the official course description as a guide and check before you travel whether the organizer has updated the map.

Aid stations and your own nutrition

  • The FAQ lists water and E’lyte sports drink at aid station, plus fruit for half and full marathon runners. According to the FAQ, marathon aid stations are at km 5, 10, 15, 20, 26, 31, 35, 38 and the finish.
  • The separate marathon page lists sponge stations at 7.5, 13.5, 17, 23.5, 28.5 and 35 km, in addition to the eight aid station. It also lists water stations at 5, 10, 17, 21, 26, 31, 35 and 39 km, which differs from the FAQ. Check the final information in the app.
  • You can drop off your own sports drink or bottles at De Nobelaer by 09:45 to have them delivered to eight aid stations; volunteers will place them on the first table at bib.

Travel, parking and changing facilities

  • The organizer recommends travelling by train or bus because of the marathon and Sunday shopping. According to the FAQ, Etten-Leur station is a five-minute walk from the town centre; follow the yellow directional signs.
  • Parking at the Centrumgarage and on the street is paid on Sunday; the garage is open 09:30–20:30. Free parking is available at Nijverheidsweg, Parallelweg, Spoorlaan, KSE and ARV Achilles; shuttle buses run from Achilles.
  • Bag drop and changing facilities are at De Nobelaer, Parklaan 2. Showers and additional changing facilities are at ARV Achilles, Concordialaan 206; the organizer runs shuttle buses there.

Experiences from previous runners

  • In 2023, I reported rain, a section through woodland and open countryside, delays after km 35, and a viaduct over the A58 around km 39. After finishing on the Markt, I first looked for the shuttle bus in the wrong place. I also described free showers and pea soup at ARV Achilles, but these are not confirmed as offerings for 2026.
  • In a 2024 club report, I described how the heat and headwind made the effort tougher and how I started the first 10 km too fast. Treat this as one runner’s experience, not as typical weather or general course advice.

Other distances and Saturday walk

  • ibizz halve marathon: 21.1 km; €31 Atletiekunie members through 30 Sep 2026, €34 others through 30 Sep, €42 for all from 1 Oct; minimum age 16; cap 1,500; 12:45 start; 3-hour finish window. Business team entry through 29 Sep: €170, teams 3–5.

  • The City-Walk is Saturday 24 October 2026: start between 09:00 and 11:00 at De Nobelaer and return by 15:00. Adult entry EUR 10, children through age 12 EUR 5. The route is 13 km or can be shortened.
