At Wabash Trace Marathon, the runner started fast before their pace dropped late in the race. Calf cramps forced a brief walk, but they rallied at the end to finish in 3 hours 40 minutes 50 seconds.

Getting to the start

Marathon/Relay start: 800 W Sheridan Ave, Shenandoah, IA 51601 (downtown Shenandoah, heading east on Sheridan Ave at 7:30 AM). Half marathon starts separately in Imogene, IA (point-to-point to Shenandoah).

Rural Iowa venue along the Wabash Trace Nature Trail (crushed-limestone rail-trail). No public transit; car access only.

Start/finish addresses per official runsignup page. Rural trail venue, no public transit.

10K and 5K start later (9:00 AM) from the same downtown Shenandoah area as the marathon start/finish.

READY TO RUN

From race morning to after the finish.

Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.

Course is an old railroad trail of crushed limestone, passing through rolling farmland and tree-shaded sections.

The marathon, 10K, and 5K start and finish in downtown Shenandoah,

while the half marathon starts in Imogene, with an organizer-run shuttle bus from 6:40 to 7:20 a.m.

Packets and bibs can be picked up at The Depot (101 N Railroad St) from 5 to 7 p.m. on September 11, the day before the race,

and from 6 to 7:15 a.m. on race day.

Packets are not handed out at the Imogene start of half marathon, so you must pick yours up in Shenandoah beforehand.

Entry fee goes up at midnight on September 1.

Times are local to Shenandoah. Check the latest official information before the race.
