Course passes through the historic center of Guatemala City and continues to Avenida La Reforma and Avenida Las Américas,

passing Iglesia Yurrita and the Pope John Paul II Monument before returning to the Palacio Municipal and ending.

The first official 42K of 2026 started at 05:00 and Entry fee was Q750.

Up to 2,500 people over the age of 18 could apply, and there was a 5-hour limit.

You had to present your ID and registration confirmation to receive your kit at Forum Majadas between August 20th and 22nd.

The kit included a t-shirt, hat, backpack, bib and timing chip, and medical expense insurance was applied to registered participants during the competition.

City Hall informed me that there is no free shuttle and that transportation routes may change.

7a Avenida beside the Municipalidad de Guatemala building, Centro Histórico, Zone 1

Per prior edition (2022): Transmetro (BRT) Line 12 stations 'Plaza Municipal' and 'Plaza Barrios' were closed/diverted during the race; Line 13 stations 'Tipografía', 'El Calvario', 'Banco de Guatemala', '4 Grados Sur', 'Plaza de la República' and 'Exposición' were also closed/diverted.

Per prior edition, road closures ran roughly 6:00-9:00 AM affecting Hipódromo del Norte, Centro Histórico, Centro Cívico, Avenida la Reforma and Avenida Las Américas; the Viaducto del Obelisco (Zone 4) was the recommended alternate driving route.

No dedicated race shuttle; access is via regular Transmetro (BRT) lines, which run diverted/limited service near the course.

Fare is a flat Q1.00-Q1.50 per ride, with transfers included within 60 minutes on the same card. Contactless EMV bank-card gates were piloted at some stations but the Tarjeta Ciudadana remains the standard/required method system-wide — sources conflict on whether tap-to-pay bank cards actually work, so don't rely on it.

Most tourists use Uber/taxis rather than TransMetro since coverage is limited to a few BRT corridors.

At the 2026 event, the 42K full marathon and the existing 21K half marathon were held on the same day. The next race date has not been confirmed.

2026 42K operations

The 42K was held on 23 August 2026, with a 05:00 start, a Q750 entry fee, an age minimum of 18, and a 5-hour cut-off.

Registration was available online through TicketASA and closed when the 2,500-place capacity was reached or on 19 August.
Runners collected their kits in person at Forum Majadas from 20–22 August after showing proof of identity.
The city said there would be no free shuttle and that bus routes could change to accommodate the event.

The 21K held on the same day

The official combined-event page listed a 07:00 start for the 21K.

The existing 21K race name and page identity remain unchanged.
The next edition's date has not been confirmed, so check the latest official information.
