THE DREAM

About BERLIN HALF MARATHON — what makes it special

ABOUT THE RACE

A day you'll remember,
long past the finish line.

Start line is set on Straße des 17.

Juni between the Brandenburg Gate and the Victory Column.

Finish is on the same road, just after passing through the Brandenburg Gate.

It is not just a running event.

Inline skaters, wheelchair athletes and handbikers all cover the same 21.0975 km course.

Course is flat and has been part of the SuperHalfs series since 2024.

The road to your own record

Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.

When the city cheers

Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.

The trip that follows the run

Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.

Stories from those who ran it first.

From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.

4 race reports
Due_Trick_9467Ran in 2026 · Finish time 1:53:02
“This bit was not nice, it took me 45 minutes to eventually get my bag and I got really cold.”

The course was so crowded that they repeatedly overtook and slowed down throughout the 21 km, and they became cold after waiting 45 minutes to collect their baggage after finishing.

Romain PellerinRan in 2026 · Finish time 1:26:00
“I'm also very happy to report that I suffered no side stitches.”

Because of congestion in the starting area, the runner started farther back than planned, and the pain from blisters on the soles of the feet gradually worsened. Still, the runner maintained the pace and finished in 1:26 with encouragement from family and friends.

Adrian MateiRan in 2025 · Finish time 1:59:32
“I crossed the finish line in 1:59:32 — mission accomplished.”

Adrian took part in the Berlin half marathon without having fully recovered from a hamstring injury and ran cautiously in the early stages. The course was flat and wide, and the finish line was beneath the Brandenburg Gate. Adrian increased the pace over the final 5 km and finished in 1 hour, 59 minutes and 32 seconds, achieving the goal.

Katie NugentFinish time 1:33:36
“I have to say there was a certain freedom just running with no control.”

The runner took part in the Berlin half marathon with a younger sibling and dealt with cold weather and long waits for the restroom. Even after the runner's watch shut off around 12 km, the runner ran comfortably and significantly improved the previous half marathon time, finishing in 1:33:36.

We translated a short line from each public race report and summarized the experience. Finish times are as stated by the author, and past editions may differ from this year's weather and operations.

Runners start · local time — Start times — 9:15 a.m. inline skating / 9:55 a.m. wheelchair and handcycle / from 10:05 a.m. runners (in several waves)

At the start, the Victory Column is straight ahead.

The course passes Ernst-Reuter-Platz and heads toward Charlottenburg Palace,

then follows Kurfürstendamm back downtown, passes Potsdamer Platz, runs along Breite Straße, and reaches Gendarmenmarkt.

Just after you pass through the Brandenburg Gate, you reach the finish on Straße des 17.

Juni.

The course is flat.

Organizers say about 40 bands and cheer zones line the course.

All four divisions—running, inline skating, wheelchair, and handcycle—cover 21.0975 km.

The current course has been used since 2019.

The event itself took its current form in 1990, when the SCC half marathon,

held in West Berlin since 1984, merged with the Peace Run, held in East Berlin since 1981.

Like the Berlin Marathon, it's organized by SC Charlottenburg and run by SCC Events.

In October 2023, SCC Events announced that the race would join the SuperHalfs series starting in 2024.

Pacer groups run in several waves, carrying flags for 1:25, 1:35, 1:45, 2:00, 2:15, and 2:30 finishes.

Your start block is set shortly before the race based on the best or target time you entered when you registered, and it's shown by the letter on your bib.

You can update your time under "Meine Anmeldungen" (My Registrations) in your account until about two months before the race.

Starting from a block slower than the one on your bib is fine.
