“We are all winners and finishers.”

The TF Feuerbach team took part in the 2025 Leipzig Marathon as a group. On the flat urban course, Alexander Weisser recorded 2 hours 35 minutes 49 seconds, and the participants remembered the event as a multi-day trip that combined the race with sightseeing in the city, a boat tour and local meals.

“The race was faultless in terms of organization.”

The runner experienced clear signage and crowd support on the two-lap full course. The runner was disappointed by the heat of around 20°C, the distant baggage storage area, and the lack of seating near the finish.

The start and finish are at Am Sportforum, near Red Bull Arena and Quarterback Immobilien Arena in Leipzig.

Course passes Waldplatz and Friedrich-Ebert-Straße before reaching the New Town Hall, Augustusplatz,

the Grassi Museum of Applied Arts, Leipzig University Hospital and the former exhibition grounds in succession.

It then loops around the German National Library and the German Square before continuing past Bayerischer Bahnhof and the Monument to the Battle of the Nations.

Heading south, the route passes the Kolábřizirkus, Gründerzeit buildings in the southern suburbs,

the southern floodplain forest and Clara-Zetkin-Park, then crosses the Pleiße and Elster flood channels.

After passing the Karl Heine Canal and the former Heilandskirche,

runners enter an approximately 800m finishing straight in front of the Faculty of Sport Sciences.

The marathon completes this urban loop course one more time to cover 42.195km.

In 2026, there were 1,677 marathon participants and 6,500 half marathon participants.

The event's origins date back to a 40km race in 1897, while its current format has continued since 1977.

READY TO RUN

From race morning to after the finish.

Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.

Race week falls in April.

Rather than assuming the temperature, check the forecast before departure and choose your race layers accordingly.

If you are taking part in a long-distance event, decide in advance whether to bring the drinks and energy products you have practiced with.

The marathon repeats the same city circuit course, so conserve energy early and use the point where the final straight begins as a target for the latter stages.

You collect bib and the participant items at a separate marathon campus from the start and finish area.

The collection site is at 59 Jahnallee, the University of Leipzig's Faculty of Sport Science.

Participant shirts, baggage storage, changing rooms, showers and Expo are also available there.

Parking is not available at Am Sportforum or the campus, so use a park-and-ride facility or public transport.

Bib can be used as a free public transport pass in MDV Zone 110 from 5:30 am to 19:30 on race day.

Take trams 3, 7, 8 and 15 to Sportforum Süd or Waldplatz, and tram 4 to Feuerbachstraße or Waldplatz.

Times are local to Leipzig. Check the latest official information before the race.
