The 10K and 20K mountain races take the Black Tortoise—symbolizing the north, water and winter—as their theme.
It is a winter trail race with a story, bringing together the four divine beasts: Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird and Black Tortoise.

'Four Sacred Beasts' is a trail running series hosted by the Hong Kong event organizer RunDaEvents,
named after the East Asian tradition of the four sacred beasts.
The series is structured around the four guardian spirits of the four cardinal directions —
the Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise — with each race themed around one of them.
'Black Tortoise Town' (玄武鎮) is one stage of the series, themed around the Black Tortoise, symbol of the north, water, and winter.
The race is set on trails around Tai Tong in Hong Kong's New Territories, divided into two distance categories, 10km and 20km.
The Tai Tong area is also known as a spot for autumn foliage, and with its gentle ridgelines and forest paths,
it is considered one of the more accessible stages in the Four Sacred Beasts series.
Timing is handled by raceresults.com.hk, a Hong Kong race-timing specialist, and the series continues annually under the name of its sponsor, Kailas.
