From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“It's been so long since I wrote about something happy...”
Invited by colleagues, the runner joined the 10km team race at the Sowers Challenge 12 Hours and pushed hard in clear weather. An individual time of 1 hour, 8 minutes and a team time of 1 hour, 10 minutes earned them second place as a team, and they appreciated an experienced teammate's encouragement.

The course is built around the Wilson Trail (衛奕信徑), which links mountain trails across Hong Kong's New Territories.
There are four distances: 42km, 28km, 14km, and 3km, each with a different start.
The 42km and 28km start near the Yau Tong Sam Ka Tsuen sports ground, and the 14km starts from the main dam of Shing Mun Reservoir;
all head to the finish at Tai Po Old Market Public School (大埔舊墟公立學校, Po Wu Road), while the 3km family race runs a short loop around the finish.
The entire course is designed so that participants can finish at their own pace within the 12-hour time limit.
Checkpoints and aid stations along each section record each runner's progress.
The 42km route returns along part of the Wilson Trail from near the Shing Mun Reservoir main dam,
and with the stone steps and climbs typical of Hong Kong's hill trails, it is considered course that demands both endurance and mountain-hiking ability.

Not yet published for the 2026 edition. Per the prior (Nov 2, 2025) edition, start points varied by distance: 42km from Yau Tong Sam Ga Tsuen Sports Ground, 28km from Tsz Wan Shan Road Playground, 14km from Shing Mun Reservoir Main Dam, 3km family category from Tai Po Old Market Government Primary School.

The race takes place in Hong Kong every year in early November, when Hong Kong is typically at its driest and most comfortable time of year.
Average temperatures are around 22°C—warm enough for running in light clothing during the day,
but cooler in the early morning and after sunset, when a light outer layer is useful.
Humidity is also much lower than in summer, so the heat feels more manageable on the mountain trails.
Course follows a classic Hong Kong mountain trail along the Wilson Trail,
with repeated stone steps and climbs, so trail shoes or hiking shoes and trekking poles are recommended.
Since you only need to finish within the 12-hour time limit, many participants alternate between walking and running to manage their pace.
The Sowers Action Challenge 12 Hours is a charity race organized by Sowers Action,
and Entry fee and the funds raised support children from low-income families and disadvantaged backgrounds in Hong Kong's mountain communities.
The race's charitable purpose, with every finish contributing to donations, is itself a motivating factor for many participants.
Times are local to Hong Kong. Check the latest official information before the race.
