THE DREAM
A trail marathon running at the foot of Mount Bromo in East Java, Indonesia.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“I didn't finish, but the beautiful Bromo scenery, which I hadn't seen in decades, helped ease my disappointment.”
Ervita fell on a rocky descent early in the full marathon at the 2015 Bromo Marathon, injuring her face and knee. She walked before returning on a rescue motorcycle and withdrawing, but enjoyed the mountain scenery and accepted the experience.

Walaupun DNF saya harus memuaskan diri menikmati pemandangan Bromo yang indah, terlebih lagi sudah puluhan tahun saya tidak ke sini.

Unexpectedly steep hills left this runner walking most of the final 2 km in the 2013 Bromo Marathon 10 km, finishing 12th in 1 hour 21 minutes 11 seconds. Mountain and farmland scenery and warm village support made it feel different from a city race.

Di 2 Km terakhir itu lebih banyak kuhabiskan untuk berjalan dibandingkan berlari.

No dedicated transit card system exists for Mount Bromo/Pasuruan; this is a rural, car-and-jeep-access venue in the Tengger highlands. Visitors typically arrange chartered 4x4 jeeps or private cars from Malang, Surabaya, or nearby towns like Cemoro Lawang, paying in cash for jeep hire, parking, and entrance fees.
There is no public bus or rail option reaching the crater rim area.

The Tengger highlands around Mount Bromo have a tropical monsoon climate,
with a distinct dry season from April to November and wet season from December to March.
September falls in the dry season, so relatively clear weather and good visibility are possible.
Temperatures in the region range from 3–20°C, and frost can occur at high elevations in the early morning.
With the course reaching a maximum elevation of 2,469m, runners must prepare for the physiological demands of thin air and low temperatures before dawn.
Around half of the course consists of volcanic ash, sand and gravel, along with forest trails,
requiring different technique and equipment from a conventional road marathon.
Times are local to Pasuruan. Check the latest official information before the race.
