The Buriram Marathon is held at Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, and is co-hosted by the Thailand Athletics Association,

Asian Athletics Association, Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), Buriram United and the local government.

It comprises four events: full marathon (42.195 km), half marathon (21.1 km), the Mini Marathon (10 km) and Fun Run (4.554 km).

All course have IAAF-AIMS Grade A certification.

Buriram Marathon 2027 is the 11th edition, held on Saturday, January 23, 2027 at Chang International Circuit in Buriram, northeastern Thailand.

It's a World Athletics Gold Label race and, unusually, a night race that starts in the evening.

The marathon starts at 6:30 p.m.,

the half marathon at 8, the mini marathon at 9 and the Fun Run at 9:45, with a time limit of 7, 4, 3 and 2 hours respectively.

The marathon course closes at 1:30 a.m. the next morning.

The start and finish are both inside the circuit.

Once it leaves the circuit, the course follows mostly flat city roads, passes the extinct volcanic crater of Khao Kradong at the 7–8km mark,

runs along the embankment of Huai Chorakhe Mak reservoir, then passes the King Rama I monument before returning to the circuit.

The entire course was measured by an AIMS-accredited measurer.

The race was founded by Buriram United owner Newin Chidchob and first held in 2017, with 1,220 finishers that year.

Since then it has become a regular stop for elite runners from Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda and elsewhere.

The 2027 expo schedule has not yet been officially announced.
Based on official information from previous editions, runners could pick up their race packs at Chang Arena from 10:00 to 20:00 on the Friday and Saturday before the race, or choose EMS home delivery.

Getting to the start

Chang International Circuit, Buriram (Amari Buriram hotel sits directly adjacent). No metro/BRT in Buriram.

Nearest transit hub is Buriram Railway Station (~4mi/6-7km). Reach via taxi (~11min, ~$3-5 via Grab or All Thai Taxi) or the local pink Songthaew Line 1 connecting railway station, bus terminal, hospital, Chang Arena, and university area (~10-15 THB flat fare).

Contact organizers via Facebook for current shuttle details. Most runners stay at hotels within walking distance of the Circuit given the lack of public transit infrastructure.

Getting to the finish

Same as start -- Chang Arena, inside/adjacent to the Circuit. Course passes i-mobile Stadium, Buriram Town Hall, King Rama I Monument.

Night race (Gold Label branding).

Start shuttle

Free shuttle buses run finishers back toward the starting/city area post-race, though a 2026 runner report noted no formal queueing system — early finishers not guaranteed a seat. Informal songthaew shuttles run from Buriram city centre to the Circuit race morning (agree fare before boarding).

On-site camping (~100-250 THB) is an alternative to relying on transport.

IC card

Buriram is a small provincial city with no metro or rechargeable transit card system — the main public transport is the Buriram Songthaew System (shared pink pickup-truck taxis), fare paid in cash (around 20 THB for a shared ride between the train station and bus terminal). Grab (ride-hailing) operates in Buriram province and is a reliable fixed-price alternative to tuk-tuks and motorcycle taxis for point-to-point trips.

A tuk-tuk between downtown and the bus terminal costs roughly 50 THB (or 20 THB if you share a songthaew instead); cars can also be rented from about 1,400 THB/day.

The race kit, with your bib and commemorative vest, can be sent by EMS mail (90 baht) or collected in person at the expo.

The entry fee is 1,000–1,500 baht for the marathon and 800–1,300 baht for the half marathon.

According to the 2026 refreshment plan, marathon aid stations were roughly every 2km,

and at 9.9km, 14km, 18km, 22km, 26km, 30km, 34km, 38km, 40km and the finish, sports drink and fruit were served along with water.

Medical points and ambulances were stationed along the course, and there were 11 toilet stops, including at 4.5km, 16km, 19.5km, 27.5km, 32km and 41km.

January is the dry season in Buriram, with temperatures of 24–26°C and humidity around 55 percent during race hours.

Running in the evening means you avoid the midday heat, but the second half of the marathon falls in the middle of the night.

From Bangkok it's a 55–60 minute flight to Buriram Airport, which is 32km from town.

By train it takes 5.5 to 7 hours from Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal, and by bus about 5.5 hours from Mo Chit terminal.

By car it's about 410km, or 6 hours, from Bangkok.
