Why you dream of this race

THE DREAM

About Dirty Dozen 50K — what makes it special

ABOUT THE RACE

A day you'll remember,
long past the finish line.

A 50K ultra held in New York City's Forest Park.

Although it is a loop course, it is no pushover.

The park has plenty of hills for an urban green space, testing your staying power as much as your fitness.

The road to your own record

Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.

When the city cheers

Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.

The trip that follows the run

Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.

Dirty Dozen 50K runner reviews and race reports

Stories from those who ran it first.

From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.

Race reports: 1
Michael Bielik
“Still I felt ok overall and ended up finishing in 3rd place only a few minutes behind the first two spots.”

Michael Billig followed the early leaders over repeated laps of Forest Park's Orange Trail at Dirty Dozen 50km. Fueling stops and stomach pain slowed him, but third place restored his confidence.

We translated a short line from each public race report and summarized the experience. Finish times are as stated by the author, and past editions may differ from this year's weather and operations.

See it on video,
feel it through their stories.

Course consists of 12 counterclockwise laps of an approximately 2.5-mile (4 km) loop along Forest Park's Orange Trail.

Each lap includes around 300 feet (91 m) of elevation gain and loss, adding up to substantial climbing by the finish.

The course passes an aid station at the end of every lap, so runners can get water, nutrition, and volunteer support each time around.

Getting to the start

"My Buddy" statue, Forest Park, Queens, NY

Official page states race is 'easy to reach by public transportation or car' but does not name a specific station.

Forest Park is accessible via the J/Z subway at Woodhaven Blvd and the E/F at Union Turnpike-Kew Gardens, both roughly 0.5-1 mile from the start area.

Confirms this well-known race is held in NYC (Forest Park, Queens, not Central Park).

More details

MetroCard was retired — December 31, 2025 was the last day to buy or refill one.

Since January 2026, OMNY (tap-and-go) is the only fare system for subway, buses, PATH, Staten Island Railway, and the Roosevelt Island Tram.

There's no upfront weekly pass to buy anymore: OMNY automatically caps subway/local-bus fares at $35 (12 rides) within any rolling 7-day period once you use the same card,

phone, or device every time.

If you'd rather use a physical card instead of your bank card, it costs $2 from a station vending machine or $5 at retail stores.

Stations & transport near the venue

This race is held in Forest Park, Queens, New York City, so the standard OMNY contactless system applies —

foreign visitors can tap a contactless bank card or phone directly at subway turnstiles and buses without buying a separate card,

at the standard $2.90 base fare.

A physical OMNY card is also available for purchase at station vending machines if preferred.

READY TO RUN

From race morning to after the finish.

Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.

The finish time limit is 8 hours, and Forest Park is accessible by public transit or car.

The organizers advise preparing for the changeable late-August weather in New York, including heat, high humidity, and sudden rain.

Trail shoes are recommended because of the hilly nature of course.

Times are local to New York City. Check the latest official information before the race.
