In the Haikou Marathon half marathon, the runner enjoyed river and sea views. They slowed after 15km, stretched an uncomfortable hip late on, then resumed running to finish with a net time of 2 hours 2 minutes.

Haikou Marathon full marathon starts at Riyue Square (日月广场, Sun and Moon Square), passes along Guoxing Avenue,

Binjiang Road, and Changdi Road, crosses Heping Bridge, then follows Haidian 5th East Road,

Bihai Avenue,

and Shiji Avenue before crossing Shiji Bridge and continuing along Binhai Avenue and Haise Road to finish at Xinhai Port (新海港, the new maritime passenger terminal) finish.

Half marathon shares the route with full marathon from the same start through the downtown section,

then branches toward Meilisha 3rd Street and Meilisha Road, finishing at the Tiankongzhishan aid station.

With successive river, sea, and bridge crossings, runners can enjoy Haikou's distinctive “city meets the sea” scenery throughout course.

日月广场站 (Sun and Moon Plaza bus stop)

Start (both full and half marathon) at 日月广场 (Sun and Moon Plaza), 国兴大道8号, Haikou. Reachable by city bus routes 60, 64, 68, 89. From Meilan Airport, airport shuttle bus line 5 goes directly to 日月广场站.

READY TO RUN

Registration opens in late September and closes on a first-come, first-served basis in late November (based on the previous year).

The race has a total capacity of 20,000: 6,000 each for full marathon and half marathon, plus 8,000 for the 5.5 km Fun Run.

The race starts at 7:00am on Sunday with the starting gun.

For each section, the distance and time limits for cut-off point are set from the start time of 7:00am;

runners who fail to pass within time limit must withdraw at course.

Hainan lies in the tropics, so the weather is generally relatively mild even in late December.
