At the Humboldt Redwoods Marathon, the runner took a relaxed approach, taking photos and chatting with others. The peaceful atmosphere beneath huge trees and the final descent accompanied a finish in 4 hours, 20 minutes, and 30 seconds.

Getting to the start

Start/finish is at Dyerville Bridge on Avenue of the Giants inside Humboldt Redwoods State Park, near Weott, CA — remote rural location, no rail or bus service. Remote park venue reachable only by private car (~45 min south of Eureka).

READY TO RUN

Course consists of two out-and-back sections beneath the redwood canopy, so most of the course is shaded.

There are no steep climbs, but gentle, sustained elevation changes recur throughout,

and runners hit a noticeable hill again near the 15-mile Weott section and near mile 23 after the turnaround, so managing your pace in the later stages matters.
