The 9th edition was held on February 22, 2026.

It met AIMS-certified course standards, with more than 3,000 participants across the 42.2km, 21.1km, 10km, and 5km events.

Foreign athletes and runners from the police and military also took part.

The 42.2 km, 21.1 km, 10 km, and 5 km events are held together.

The race hub is the IEM Management House in Kolkata's Salt Lake Sector V (Bidhannagar),

and the start line and course maps for the 2027 edition have not yet been released.

The previous edition, held on February 22, 2026, was the ninth race and took place as Kolkata's first internationally recognized full marathon,

meeting the AIMS-accredited course standard.

More than 3,000 people ran, including overseas athletes and members of the police and armed forces.

Prior editions describe shorter distances (5K/10K) starting from City Centre 1, Salt Lake, also in the Sector V area within walking distance of the metro station — per prior edition since 2027 route not yet confirmed.

Salt Lake Sector V is a well-connected IT/business district; Kolkata Metro's Purple Line 'Salt Lake Sector-V and IT Centre' station serves the area directly, the most practical way for a foreign runner to reach the venue.

Ticket counters/customer-care desks at any Kolkata Metro station (e.g. Esplanade, Howrah Station, Sealdah Station, Dum Dum, Airport station).

Some stations and the official app also issue instant digital cards. Alternative: Kolkata Metro Tourist Smart Card ₹250 (3 days, unlimited rides) / ₹550 (5 days, unlimited rides) — Only worth it if you're sightseeing intensively and riding the metro many times per day across 3-5 days — otherwise the regular pay-per-ride Smart Card (with its 10% top-up bonus) is cheaper.

The Smart Card costs ₹100-1000 to buy, of which ₹60 is a refundable deposit and the rest is usable travel credit; minimum top-up is ₹50 and the card holds up to ₹1,000. The card is valid for 1 year from purchase or last top-up. No source explicitly confirms or denies that foreign contactless bank cards work directly at Kolkata Metro gates — coverage only discusses cards being used to top up the Smart Card at counters/kiosks, not tapping a bank card at the gate itself, so treat this as unconfirmed rather than assuming it works.

making it the easiest route for foreign runners to reach.

In the previous edition, the 5K and 10K started at City Centre 1, also in Sector V, which is likewise within walking distance of the station.

Since the race is organized by a university, official information on bib distribution has not been published.
