“I have mixed feelings about this race!”Sara finished the 2024 Jacksonville Marathon in 3 hours 42 minutes 24 seconds. She felt fine at first, but struggled with the heat and headwinds in the second half. Although she did not achieve the time she had hoped for, she achieved a Boston qualifying time.
“Mile 18 I finally had to fight a bit more as we turned into a head wind that would be with us pretty much to the finish.”The runner finished in 2 hours 54 minutes 46 seconds and found the second half difficult because of the high humidity, rising temperatures and persistent headwind. Even so, the runner adjusted the target pace from the start and kept running to the finish. The runner was most pleased that the times for the first and second halves were even.
“My final race time was 4:52:36.”Hank Grabowski ran the 2024 Jacksonville Marathon full marathon as his second marathon. After trying to pick up the pace beyond 20 miles, he began to fade from 23 miles and mostly walked briskly between 25 and 26 miles, but started running again for the final stretch and finished in 4 hours 52 minutes 36 seconds.
