The Nestomalt Run for Sri Lanka - Jaffna Half Marathon starts and finishes at Duraiyappah Stadium in Jaffna, offering four distances (21.1km, 10km, 5km, 2km).

Billed as Jaffna's first-ever international running event, the course runs through the city's streets in Sri Lanka's northern peninsula,

a region only recently opened to large-scale sporting events after decades of civil conflict.

Sri Lanka has no nationwide reloadable transit card or tap-to-pay system. Local/inter-provincial buses serving Jaffna are cash-only — a conductor collects the fare after boarding (roughly LKR 100-500 depending on distance; foreigners are sometimes quoted higher prices).

The Yal Devi intercity train also runs Colombo-Jaffna (tickets ~LKR 1,900-2,800); assume cash is safest at station counters. Within Jaffna town, tuk-tuks and local buses are cash-only.
