THE DREAM
This full marathon race takes place in Sukkur, Pakistan, in December.
The organisers describe it as an international event open to both Pakistani and overseas runners, with the subtitle “The Hope Run”.
This will be the third edition.
It is organised by Rock Sahayata Trust, which also runs swimming events, a science-talent programme and relief projects.
The organisers’ stated aim is to put Sindh on the international running map.

From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“I loved the city, the sense of unity among people coming together from different places, and the warmth of the people in Sukkur.”Selam Kahsay ran the 10km event at the Lok Sahaita Marathon, enjoying the mix of runners from different regions and the warmth of Sukkur residents. Every part of the race left a positive impression, with preparation for a half marathon next on the agenda.
“It was an overwhelming experience, with so many excited, astonished children greeting us along the road. They cheered us on and ran alongside us.”
Matteo Simone ran the Lok Sahaita Marathon past Sukkur Barrage on the Indus River and banana and date plantations. Welcoming crowds and children cheering along the road helped him finish in 4 hours 20 minutes.

Tanta emozione e partecipazione, tantissimi bambini lungo la strada che ci salutavano, esaltati e stupiti nel vederci; ci incitavano, correvano accanto a noi.

RACE WEEK
Know the course and time limit, and race day comes into focus.
From the 2025 editionWe have not confirmed the start line coordinates yet. The map shows the host city.
Now in its third edition, this race takes place in Sukkur, Sindh, Pakistan.
The city stands on the west bank of the Indus, opposite Rohri, and its hill, together with the hill on Bukkur Island, is known as the 'cut-off point of Sindh'.
The programme includes full marathon and a 10km race.
Organiser Rock Sahayata Trust describes the event as a 'movement of hope and humanity',
aiming to motivate young people through sport and encourage wider community participation.
At the previous edition, Morocco's Abdel Majid competed internationally in full marathon, while Kenya's Mweni Mutuku took part in the 10km.
Not yet confirmed in the official race guide
This may change for the next edition.

IBA Public School, Sukkur, Pakistan
The official 3rd edition page does not publish transport/shuttle details; the prior 2nd edition page confirms 'Start & Finish Point: IBA Public School, Sukkur,' with the course heading out along Sukkur Barrage/the Indus River toward Khairpur and back. Sukkur has no metro, BTS, or organized city rail transit.
Registration for the 3rd edition reportedly opened March 29, 2026
Sukkur is a mid-size Pakistani city without formal public transit for visitors — a foreign runner would rely on taxi/rickshaw/hotel transport to reach IBA Public School directly.
Auto-rickshaws are the primary way to get around Sukkur; pay cash (PKR) and agree the fare upfront since meters aren't reliably used. A subsidized 'Peoples Bus Service' between Sukkur and Shikarpur launched April 2026, but passenger-facing card/digital payment details for that route couldn't be confirmed — assume cash unless told otherwise locally.

The competition is held in December and is located to avoid Sukkur's extreme summer heat.
Sukkur is a desert climate area where the dry heat continues from April to early June and then transitions into the rainy season.
Summer temperatures exceed 50°C, making it once considered the hottest city in British India.
On the other hand, winter is a relatively favorable season for running a marathon due to the mild and often foggy weather.
The average annual precipitation is only 159.6mm, wind speed is low, and sunshine is recorded as abundant.
At the time of the December competition, the probability of precipitation is low, but preparations may be needed to take morning fog into account.
Applications begin on March 29, 2026.
As the application start date is more than eight months ahead of the December competition,
if you plan to participate from overseas, it is a good idea to coordinate your flight tickets and schedule based on this schedule.
Times are local to Sukkur. Check the latest official information before the race.
