“The last 3 km were the toughest because of a headwind, but I knew the finish line was close.”

After a calf injury, they adjusted their goal and managed their pace on the flat Malaga course. Despite side pain and hamstring discomfort after 15 km, they set a personal best by 1 second.

Elisabet García
“I did it!”

At the Málaga half marathon, the runner held their own pace in pursuit of a first half marathon finish. Shoe trouble forced some walking late on, but a friend's cheers just before the finish helped them complete the race smiling.

The 21.097 km course starts and finishes on Paseo del Parque, in front of Auditorio Eduardo Ocón, with the finish approach running along Paseo de los Curas.

The course follows the coast for almost its entire length.

The route heads toward the Martín Carpena arena, then loops back through the El Limonar district.

Along the way, it passes near the Alcazaba, the Moorish fortress overlooking the city,

and the Port of Málaga, one of the busiest cruise ports on the Iberian Peninsula.

Most of the course stays close to the coast at sea level.

Paseo del Parque runs through a palm-lined park stretching toward the port.
