From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“That shower felt wonderful, and the bed was a lifesaver!”
This runner tackled the nighttime course at the 2015 Bordeaux Métropole Marathon through heavy rain, mud, and wet cobblestones. Just 6 days after running Paris, their legs stiffened late on and they fell, but enthusiastic crowds helped them finish in 3 hours 53 minutes.

A participant who started their first Bordeaux night full marathon in the rain recorded the tram journey, race preparations, and the race itself.

The Bordeaux Marathon takes place in central Bordeaux on Sunday, November 8, 2026.
It's the city's first marathon in seven years: this year the full marathon joins the existing half marathon and 10K for the first time.
More than 30,000 runners are expected across the three events, and the course for all three events is certified by the French Athletics Federation (FFA),
so each course counts for qualifying times for the French Championships.
The race is organized by Stade Bordelais, a Bordeaux athletics club.
Nearly 24,000 runners took part in the 2025 half marathon.
The full marathon starts at 8 a.m., the half marathon at 10 a.m.,
and the 10K at 1 p.m. The finish is on the Garonne riverfront at Place de la Bourse, in front of the Miroir d'eau.
Full marathon runners cross to both banks of the Garonne, and rather than repeating a loop, the route links heritage districts across the city.
Organizers say runners will cross the river on another bridge instead of the Pont de Pierre,
which is under construction, and bill it as a fast course without much elevation change.
Half marathon and 10K runners use the same course as in 2025.
The full marathon time limit is 5 hours 30 minutes;
after that, sweep-vehicle volunteers collect your bib.
Water and food are available every 5 km, with a refreshment station at the finish, and portable toilets are placed along the course.
Starts are split by corral, and with such a big field, runners are asked to be in their corral 30 minutes before the start.
Pacer groups run with the field.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
You must register your ID card and PPS (Health Prevention Pass).
11/6 (Fri)·11/7 (Sat) 10:00~20:00
A relaxed group run to loosen up before race day. No pace pressure — everyone's welcome.
There was no official shakeout from the organizer. Local running communities host their own.
Use the TBM Mobilités smartphone app to buy and validate an M-ticket (tap phone to validator via Bluetooth) — this is the most reliable option for a foreign tourist, since network-wide EMV bank-card tap-to-ride is still only a pilot on select bus lines.
Village d'avant course (bib pickup + bag drop) - Hangar 14, 115 quai des Chartrons, 33000 Bordeaux
Official site gives no tram line or shuttle detail for reaching start.
Bag check at start-village level, closes 15 min before start.
Advised to arrive at least 1h before.
No shuttle bus mentioned.
FAQ only points to separate TBM Bordeaux Metropole page for tram impacts, no specific line named.
Parking near course closes 1h before race, reopens after (or earlier once course cleared).
Dedicated 'Stationnement et circulation' page not yet published, likely because the 2026 course itself is unconfirmed (to be officially measured summer 2026).
No finish-line address published for same reason.
Carte TBM
TBM boutiques/agencies, partner retailers, ticket machines at tram stations, or online/reload via the TBM Mobilités app or boutique.infotbm.com
Not accepted at the gates — get the local card above
Alternative: Ticket 24h (TBM 24-hour ticket) €6.50 — Worth it if making 3+ trips in a day around Bordeaux;
for just one or two rides, a single ticket via the app or a kiosk is cheaper.
TBM covers Bordeaux's tram and bus network.
Tickets bought at machines or the app must be validated on boarding.
Direct EMV bank-card tap-to-pay on validators is only piloted on certain bus lines (Lianes 1 & 9), not confirmed network-wide —
use the app or a ticket machine instead of relying on tapping a foreign card directly.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
Your bib isn't handed out on race day, so plan to stop by the village on Friday or Saturday.
Pick it up at the race village in Hangar 14, 115 quai des Chartrons.
| Date | Pickup hours |
|---|---|
| Friday, November 6 | 10 a.m.–8 p.m. |
| Saturday, November 7 | 9 a.m.–7 p.m. |
Bag check is free at the village in the start area, and only small backpacks up to 40×35×20 cm are accepted.
From Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport, it's just over 30 minutes to the city center by tram or airport bus.
| Getting there | Journey time |
|---|---|
| Tram Line A → Hôtel de Ville | About 35 minutes |
| 30'Direct → Gare Saint-Jean | About 30 minutes |
