The city you want to run becomes your next trip.
DurhamTHE DREAM
This is part of the Garmin Marathon Series.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“Finishing in the Duke University football stadium with the announcer calling my name was electric.”The runner finished in 3 hours 45 minutes 53 seconds. The runner appreciated the finish at the Duke University stadium, the tech-focused expo, and the fact that there was a toilet at every aid station. The runner found the lack of early hydration signs, cracks in the road, and the stadium stairs after the finish disappointing.
“They race was very well organized. Course was awesome passing many land marks. Aid stations were supported. Race distance was correct.”ReasonableWatch1770 took part in the Durham Half Marathon and rated the organization, the course passing several landmarks, aid-station support, and the accurate distance measurement positively. Around 5,500~6,000 people took part, and ReasonableWatch1770 also set a personal record after 8 weeks of preparation.
“They just kept coming with some of the worst in the last 6 miles.”Camaker said they picked up their early pace at the 2026 Garmin Marathon Durham and struggled on the uphill sections during the final 6 miles. The finish was set inside Duke's football stadium, and they valued finishing their 19th marathon more than the time itself.

Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
The start is at 409 Blackwell Street, Durham, North Carolina 27701.
When choosing accommodation, it is best to first calculate the travel time to this address.
The marathon, half marathon, and 10K start at 7:00 am, while only the 5K starts at 7:20 am, so you should plan your preparation time according to your event.
The two longer events combine urban sections, hills, and scenic trails.
Rather than applying the same pace strategy used for a flat road race, you need a plan that saves energy on the climbs.
Marathon participants may aim for a Boston-qualifying time,
so it is best to decide in advance whether to use a pace watch or pace by perceived effort while accounting for the climbs and descents of course.
You should also check your event and entry fee.
The marathon costs $100, half marathon costs $85, the 10K costs $60, and the 5K costs $40.
Times are local to Durham. Check the latest official information before the race.
