The road to your own record
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.

The city you want to run becomes your next trip.

THE DREAM
It is the 63rd edition of a traditional road race in Quito, Ecuador, offering a 15K distance.
The newly launched Quito half marathon (21K) and Mini Quito 5K also run concurrently.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“The feeling of having done it was incomparable, and I was pleased to see 1 hour 33 minutes on my watch.”
After training for just over a month, the author entered the Quito Últimas Noticias 15K, endured the climbs and final 4 km, and finished in 1 hour 33 minutes.

RACE WEEK
Know the course and time limit, and race day comes into focus.
From the 2025 editionStarting near Av.
Maldonado–El Tablón in southern Quito, the course passes along Rodrigo de Chávez Avenue and 5 de Junio Street before crossing Quito’s Historic Center,
known for its concentration of colonial-era architecture.
It then heads north along Tarqui, 6 de Diciembre and Amazonas avenues,
finishing at Atahualpa Olympic Stadium with finish, on a high-altitude course course at 2,850 m above sea level.

Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
Get the free Tarjeta Ciudad (or use the Cuenta Ciudad QR code in the app) to ride the Metro, Trolebús, and Ecovía — cash and foreign contactless bank cards are not accepted directly at the gates.
Av. Pedro Vicente Maldonado y El Tablón, south Quito — served by the Trolebús (trolleybus) corridor along Av. Maldonado
DISTANCE MISMATCH: official site quito15krace.com (2026 edition, main race Sun 31 May) currently offers only 5K/15K/21K —
still no 42K/marathon distance even after re-checking.
A separate 'Maratón de Quito 42k/21k/10k' (Quito Turismo) exists but runs late November, not late May — different event, wrong date match.
The 2027-05-30 date most likely corresponds to the same May-dated Quito 15K/21K Race franchise, which does not offer a full marathon distance.
Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa, Quito — ~9 min walk from Quito Metro's La Pradera station (also near Iñaquito station)
Ecovía (Trolebús-system) BRT stop 'Naciones Unidas' directly in front of the stadium;
Metrobús-Q lines CENTRAL NORTE, E2, E3, NOR ORIENTAL ECOVÍA also pass nearby.
No dedicated runner shuttle found;
rely on Quito's Metrobús-Q system (Trolebús/Ecovía/Metrovía) and the Metro de Quito line.
Transit info is per the 2026 (15K/21K) edition since no marathon course currently exists.
Tarjeta Ciudad
Free at Metro/Trolebús/Ecovía stations and municipal terminals after registering a Cuenta Ciudad account online (requires ID/passport)
Not accepted at the gates — get the local card above
As of April 2026, Quito unified fare payment across Metro, Trolebús, and Ecovía under the Cuenta Ciudad system;
Metro rides cost $0.45 and Trolebús/Ecovía cost $0.35 (USD is Ecuador's currency).
The card is free but requires online registration and pickup, a hassle for a short visit — many runners will find taxis or rideshare apps more practical.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
Race day is Sun May31 2026, with the main race starting at 06:45.
Kit pickup is May29-30 at Centro de Convenciones Metropolitano de Quito.
