RACE WEEK
Know the course and time limit, and race day comes into focus.

We have not confirmed the start line coordinates yet. The map shows the host city.
The start and finish will be at the Explanada Bicentenario at Feria de León.
On Sunday, September 20, 2026, the 42km and 21km wheelchair races will start in waves at 5:50 a.m.,
followed by the 42km, 21km and 10km open divisions at 6 a.m. One of Mexico’s oldest marathons,
the race is sanctioned by World Athletics, AIMS and FMAA, with around 6,100 participants expected.
A stretching area will be set up in the fairground plaza, and bag drop will be located in the fairground’s business building.

So on race morning, you can just run.
You must bring your official ID and the runner number you received via email after registration.
You can receive it even in the early morning of the competition day (9/20), and elite athletes must attend a pre-meeting on 9/19.
Pay cash for individual rides on the SIT Optibús BRT — the PagoBús card is cheaper but requires an official photo ID to purchase and there's no confirmed way for a foreign contactless bank card to tap directly on the reader.

Road closures around the course begin 5:30 AM, progressively/partially reopened as the race passes each section, full reopening ~12:00 PM.
Only organizer-authorized vehicles may accompany runners during closures.

Fare with a PagoBús card is 12 MXN vs. 13 MXN in cash —
a small savings largely offset for a short-stay tourist by the card requiring a Mexican-style photo ID (INE) to buy.
No source confirms foreign-issued contactless bank cards can be tapped directly on Optibús/PagoBús readers.
For a short race trip, cash is the simpler option.

The official name is the 46th edition of 'Marathon Leon 450,' and the start and finish point is the Bicentennial Plaza inside the Feria de León.
The wheelchair division starts at 5:50 a.m., and the general division starts at 6:00 a.m., with 42km, 21km, and 10km starting together.
Time limit is 6 hours for full marathon, 4 hours for half marathon, and 2 hours for the 10km.
Aid station are placed every 2.5km starting from mark, and sports drink are provided every 2.5km starting from 5km,
while medical aid stations will be set up every 5km and at finish.
Participation is limited to 6,100 runners,
and bib can be picked up at the Macro Terrace inside the Feria de León after prior online registration verification on September 18, two days before the event (10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.),
and on the 19th (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.).
