“I was grateful to reach the finish line with a net time of 4:17:44.”

The runner tried to run with the 4-hour pacer, but their legs became heavy after the uphill section on the highway, and they had to walk because of cramps later in the race. The runner enjoyed the aid-station snacks and the seaside views, did not give up, and finished in 4 hours 17 minutes 44 seconds.

“On the other hand, the stretches along the beach were nice and no major complaints organizational wise.”

The beach section was enjoyable, but most of the race followed highways and there were few spectators. They said collecting the race number and finisher’s items went smoothly.

Pattaya Marathon reaches its 33rd edition in 2026 and is one of Thailand’s longest-running international road races.

The start and finish are on the plaza in front of Terminal 21, a landmark shopping mall in central Pattaya,

while course heads straight onto Pattaya Beach Road before following the coastline and linking the city’s main roads with beach sections.

Alternating between the city and the sea, course is mostly flat,

with enthusiastic crowds and a lively race atmosphere as the course passes through the heart of the tourist district.

The five events are full marathon 42.195km, half marathon 21.1km, 10km, Wheelchair 4.5km and Family Fun Run 4.5km.

Competitive and participation events take place over the same weekend, so runners chasing a fast time and families share the same finish.

The race is certified as a World Athletics International Standard Road Race, and the 2026 edition will be held over the weekend of September 26–27.

Getting to the start

Pattaya has no rail transit — songthaew shared pickup trucks (baht buses) circulate along Beach Road and Second Road near the seafront start area

Road closures

Roads are closed from midnight the day before the competition until the end of the competition.

Stations & transport near the venue

A songthaew hop along the fixed loop costs about 10-20 baht;

agree the price first for off-route trips.

From Bangkok, buses leave Ekkamai Eastern Bus Terminal for Pattaya roughly every 30-40 minutes and take about 2 hours;

ride-hailing (Grab/Bolt) also works within Pattaya.

Know them ahead and the run feels easier.

Pattaya in September is at the end of the rainy season, so humidity is high and showers are frequent.

Plan for more fluids than usual, and wear a top and socks that will not chafe if they get wet.

The start and finish at Terminal 21 Pattaya are in central Pattaya, within walking distance of accommodation along Beach Road and Second Road.

With urban road closures on race day, staying within walking distance is simpler than relying on a vehicle.

Events start at different times from the early hours of the morning,

so check the final official announcement again for the bib pickup location and hours, as well as the exact start time of your event.
